Strategy guide for Game X:  In the board game Game X, the traditional openings—strategic sequences of moves at the beginning of games—are most advantageous against opponents who understand both the traditional and the nontraditional openings, and also against those who do not understand any of the openings very well. However, nontraditional openings are most advantageous against opponents who understand only the traditional openings. Aggressive openings, whether traditional or nontraditional, generally favor a player who uses them against an opponent less experienced with Game X, whereas defensive openings, whether traditional or nontraditional, tend to reduce an opponent's advantage when used by a player less experienced with Game X.

Select for  Aggressive , traditional the scenario in which the information above most strongly suggests that an aggressive, traditional opening would be most advantageous for you to use, and select for Defensive, nontraditional the scenario in which the above information most strongly suggests that a defensive, nontraditional opening would be most advantageous for you to use. This question was very difficult for me because I got bogged down by the details upon my initial reading. I thought writing a chart about the different kinds of openings would help, but here is how I approached the question again.

Go straight to the question below the scenario. We're looking for what would be opening would most advantageous for us-- whether it be aggressive traditional or defensive nontraditional.

Aggressive Traditional
Scanning the scenario, it says 'Aggressive openings, whether  traditional or nontraditional , generally  favor  a player who uses them against an  opponent less experienced with Game X '. All of the choices but one have the opponent as either the same experience level or more experience with game X. Eliminate those and the reminaing choice is 'Your opponent understands both the traditional and nontraditional openings, but you have more experience with Game X'.

Defensive Nontraditional
In the last sentence it says 'defensive openings, whether  traditional or nontraditional , tend to  reduce  an opponent's advantage when used by a player  less experienced with Game X '. So we want a choice that puts us either at the same level or at a lower level than our opponent. All 4 choices but the one we chose above remain.
Next we'll look to eliminate based on the 'Nontraditional' part. In the scenario, it says 'nontraditional openings are most  advantageous  against opponents who  understand only the traditional  openings'. Only one supports this line-- 'Your opponent has more experience with Game X but understands only the traditional openings.'

I'm having a hard time understanding why the answer for Defensive Non-Traditional is "Your opponent has more experience with Game X but understand only the traditional openings" instead of "Your opponent understands both the traditional and Non-Traditional openings, and has more experience with Game X"

My logic says that defensive openings are for people that are less experienced than the opponent, which is what both arguments state, but can't find why we are opting for option b.

Hello
defensive openings, whether traditional or nontraditional, tend to reduce an opponent's advantage when used by a player less experienced with Game.
Because of this part, if you are a person with less experience and use defensive, that's good for you since you can reduce your opponent chance (Advantage.) By definition for nontradional as well, B is therefore correct

I'll simplify using the following nomenclature.

Replace the arrow (---> )in the below statements with ("is advantageous against opponents who know/are"). 
TO = Traditional Openings
NTO = Non Traditional Openings
DNO = Do not know Openings
AO = Aggressive Openings
DO =Defensive Openings
LE = Less Experienced
ME = More Experienced.

Now follow the question statement.

1. TO ----> TO,NTO,DNO
2. NTO ----> TO
3. AO ----> LE
4. DO ----> ME

Now see statements 1 and 3.

Traditional Agressive Openings is advantageous against an oponent who knows both T and NT openings but is less experienced than you. (Option 3)*

And Statements 2 and 4.

Non Traditional Defensive Openings is advantageous against an opponent who knows Traditional Openings but is more experienced than you. (Option 2)

* I must point out that if you are using Traditional Openings, it does not matter what kind of opening your opponent plays, you will always be at an advantage. So, it only comes down to experience.

Defensive, nontraditional situations where the player is LESS EXPERIENCED,  reduce  the opponent's advantage. But if the opponent only knows traditional openings, then it's the most advantage. The degree of advantage is much higher than the previous

Is there any way to solve it under 3 4 minutes ?

Comparing the two types of moves with every 4 options ( 8 total ) seems prone to careless mistakes, ardous and time consuming.

Aggressive ----> T/NT ----> Adv ----> against ----> Less experienced opponent

Based on this we end up in 4 scenarios

tricky part - whereas defensive openings, whether traditional or nontraditional, tend to reduce an opponent's advantage when used by a player less experienced with Game X - " tend to reduce an opponent's advantage" this simply means that you are at advantage and " when used by a player less experienced with Game X" means that you have less experience so -

4. DO (any) >> against more exp. players (any - since not specified)

Answers - 
 Aggressive, traditional - Your opponent understands both the traditional and nontraditional openings, but you have more experience with Game X  -  since AO will work with less exp. players AND TO will work when opponent has both TO+NTO .

Defensive, nontraditional - Your opponent has more experience with Game X but understands only the traditional openings  -  since DO will work against more exp. players and NTO will work against only TO players.

Hi,

I understand why many of us wonder why not the last option for defensive, non-traditional.

According to my guess, both option B and E state's that opponent must be of high experience which is a must be condition. But since it asks for defensive, non-traditional , Non-traditional players are best against only traditional players. So they have to defend them who has more experience and as well as a traditional strategy person

First check - if the opponent is experienced or less experienced.
If experienced, means defensive technique. And then for non traditional openings - played should only understand traditional openings -> this is B

If opponent is not so experienced or less experienced than you - then aggressive openings better. And for you to play with traditional openings-> the player can understand traditional or non traditional openings.
