try to work on projects on the side that you can explain in the application rather just mentioning you were fully focused on the apps. All the best!!!
Yes, in reality, I’m currently working on a small personal project that has started generating some revenue, though it’s still modest. I’m a bit concerned that the admissions committee might not view it as credible or substantial enough. Do you have any experiences in handling this situation?

Hi guys, I’m planning to apply to Kellogg in Round 1 this year, and I’m currently in a period of intentional unemployment to fully focus on the application process. Do you think I still have a chance of being admitted? Or would it be wiser to secure a new job first and apply in Round 2 or 3 or even wait until next year?
In between two employments, if your gap balloons more than 3-4 months, you will be questionable.Saying that I wanted to focus on GMAT preparation and application is not okay.

Happy Monday y’all!

Noticing some crickets lately, so popping in to say hi and a warm welcome to all the new folks here! I’m Sumedh, Kellogg’s GMAT Club moderator and a fellow applicant this season.

I’m here to help keep things useful, supportive, and fun as we go through apps together. Feel free to drop questions, updates, or just say hey (or as Morgan Jay would go "🎵 Heyyyyyyyyy🎵") . And if you ever need anything, just tag or DM me!

Let’s bring some Kellogg energy back in here 💙💛

Alright, quick break from the essays we’ve been drafting - let’s play a game!

→ If Kellogg were a person, how would you describe them?
Give us three adjectives; don’t overthink it.

Here’s mine: Bold, collaborative, runs team-building offsites for fun 👀

energized, talented, and warm - which reflects the common qualities I’ve noticed in the Kellogg alumni I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with.

You should try your hand at reaching out via email as well. If you have a mutual connection, it might be easier to fast track a conversation with an alumnus.

This or That Tuesdays!

Taking cue from yesterday, let’s explore a bit about Kellogg’s global experiences!

Kellogg has two of these AMAZING experiences: KWEST and GIM. (Kudos to you if you can tell us the full form 😉)

If you were admitted to Kellogg and you could go anywhere with your Kellogg crew, where would you go and why?

For me:
→ KWEST in Turkey: for its cultural depth, team bonding potential, and insane scenery.
→ GIM in Ireland: tech/health innovation, EU business access, and a great balance of fun + learning

Hi, how did you approach alums? I’ve cold called alums on linkedin but got no response.
I tried all these approaches:
(1) LinkedIn outreach
(2) Email (using information from club directories)
(3) Local events where Kellogg alumni were speaking
For emails, I haven’t received any replies yet.
For LinkedIn, I was pleasantly surprised by the positive response rate. I think this came from doing thorough research before reaching out. I only contacted people who had something in common with me - either from my previous companies, working in roles I’m interested in, or involved in clubs/activities I’m passionate about. I used these connections as conversation starters and customized every message.
For events, I actively listened to their presentations and tried to ask thoughtful questions to make a good impression before connecting with them afterward.
That’s my approach so far. I hope this might be helpful for you too!
