Just out of curiosity, is there anyone else who has submitted an Early Action application, but NOT received the

"This is just a quick note to let you know that your file is now complete and has been forwarded to a member of the Admissions Committee for review."

I submitted my application on 10/9 and still have not received anything.

Check your spam folder. Might have gone there. The Subject of the email should be "Tuck application status"

I did not receive that either. I think it may be for a few reasons. Those who submitted their application and THEN after that completed their interview or had their recommenders submit their recommendations (after app submission) would have received it because at the time of submission, their application was not technically complete. I personally interviewed before submitting my application (EA round as well) and also had my recommenders submit before my application was submitted.

Did you by any chance do the same?

That is interesting NYCFinanceGuy. I also have the same situation:

Interviewed > Recommendations submitted > Application Submitted

ALTHOUGH, I did email the Adcom team right after I submitted, and she said that I would get an email. However, I think that you may have a pretty good theory.... at least it makes me feel better!

Last year, I did not get any email after submission, so was surprised when I got that personal email this time.

Another theory might be that Tuck receives ~400 applications in EA and have two months to go through them so they might take their sweet time. Still a long way to go.

Another theory to add is that they look at the applications in chronological order. I submitted on 10/9...and a person that submitted on 10/1 got an email..... hmmmm

I submitted on 10/9, 3 hours before the deadline. Maybe they do it based on last name? Mine is in first 5.

Hey this theory is not correct. I interviewed earlier and recos were submitted before the deadline too. I got both the mails from Tuck adcom.

Hey gbrooks6687,

IMO, the answer lies in your Tuck application account. What is written in there? Is the application status submitted AND the application status Completed? There should be two different dates when the app is submitted and when it is completed. Completed means: the app is checked by the adcom and they think it has all the required materials.

If you app status is not completed then that means they have not yet got to your app. If it is completed, then the admission officer who reviewed your file is probably not sending mails to all the applicants whose apps he or she reviewed. In either case I wouldn't worry much.

I humbly contradict all the above theories and present my own theory ;) I would never think Tuck would go through apps based on GMAT. This is one school I believe where GMAT score is not that important even though their average score is high. But again they consider best scores from different tests, and average is never a correct indicator.

My theory:

When we submit an app, we get a mail saying that the app is submitted(this is mostly an automated mail). And once they review it and realize it is complete, they change the app status to completed in the application account and/or they send a personalized mail to the applicants(I have seen different versions of these mails). Now, as there are different admission officers, it is their preference to either send the mail or not. I think we should not read too much into it. To know whether your application is sent to the reader or not check your application account. If it says completed then it is already sent to the review. If it just says submitted then they have not yet got to your app.

Hope this makes sense.

Hey Halimary, very good theory. gbrooks6687 can validate whether the adcom is taking their sweet time or not by checking his application account. If the status is not completed then the adcom is taking their sweet time :)

Hey Ward 2012, all the best for the interview. I almost wanted to ask you to share your profile. But I realized you have better things to do such as preparing for the interview :) I did an applicant initiated interview at Tuck. PM me if you have any questions regarding the interview process.
