Another theory to add is that they look at the applications in chronological order. I submitted on 10/9...and a person that submitted on 10/1 got an email..... hmmmm
I submitted on 10/9, 3 hours before the deadline. Maybe they do it based on last name? Mine is in first 5.

I am sure there is a theory that matches.
I humbly contradict all the above theories and present my own theory

I would never think Tuck would go through apps based on GMAT. This is one school I believe where GMAT score is not that important even though their average score is high. But again they consider best scores from different tests, and average is never a correct indicator.
My theory:
When we submit an app, we get a mail saying that the app is submitted(this is mostly an automated mail). And once they review it and realize it is complete, they change the app status to completed in the application account and/or they send a personalized mail to the applicants(I have seen different versions of these mails). Now, as there are different admission officers, it is their preference to either send the mail or not. I think we should not read too much into it. To know whether your application is sent to the reader or not check your application account. If it says completed then it is already sent to the review. If it just says submitted then they have not yet got to your app.
Hope this makes sense.
