I think it depends on the school a bit, but in general, it's a positive thing to have in your background, especially if you went to a selective undergrad. But I doubt it carries that much weight in the final decision.

My undergrad is also more competitive today than it was when I went (and at that time it was already one of the most competitive). They have a "top" business school as well, but I'm not applying to it because, well, I want something new. I'm also waiting on the EA decision and got the "are you jumpy enough yet?" email regarding the decision date.

I'm going to be unpopular and suggest that app numbers are up but class size remains the same. So accepted % might be a tad lower!

Well, the numbers could be down, too. They extended the open interview period. Obviously, wild guessing here

it could be more applicants reporting their status this year than prior because gmatclub is gaining more popularity among bshcool applicants. I see similar increase in other schools' thread this year.

Good point - the only logical thing to do is create scenario analysis. If the model for the applicant table is sub 100 on rows we can be sure we probably aren't doing this right.
