Hi everyone,

I've been fortunate enough to have been accepted to two of my top schools! However I can't decide which I would rather go to and would love any guidance.

About me:

Background: 27 year old American female with most of my friends and family in the northeast.

Career to date: Five years working in tech startups

Career after MBA: I want to stay in the tech space in a general management career, perhaps in e-commerce or a consumer facing tech company (Spotify, Lyft, maybe Amazon , etc).

I am however very open to exploring new industries (marketing, maybe consulting ) and would like to go to a school that supports career exploration.

Thoughts on Tuck: I love the close knit culture. I am not turned off by how remote it is from a personal standpoint- but will the location limit recruiting opportunities?

Thoughts on SOM: I have no problem with New Haven and like that it is less remote than Hanover. However, is the student body as close knit as Tucks? And is it as strong for tech and/or general management? Seems like it's not as highly ranked as Tuck overall.

I'm truly torn. Any insight at all is appreciated!

assuming no $ from either school, I'd go with Tuck. Better brand and alumni network.

Tuck. Everything Yale can do for you, Tuck can do even better. Tuck’s recruiting is very strong!

Thank you, seems like most people think Tuck would be a better choice.

Does anyone else have any insight into how the two schools place into tech and marketing companies?

Check out the employment reports! I don’t think either are “known” for tech or marketing necessarily, but either will be good programs and get you were you want if you’re focused.

We are splitting hairs here - go with your gut (both places are remote; both are smaller and attract fewer recruiters to campus). Both are pretty heavy consulting focused. I can see how they both would be appealing with their own strengths - you have a very hard job picking ahead of you :-)

Agreed with bb here. Not sure why this is a "no brainer" decision. Both schools will provide similar resources. It really comes down to location and community. I highly recommend attending the welcome weekend before making a decision on this.

In terms of marketing, I can't speak to that because I've never really recruited for that function or industry. Tech is something that Yale is actively improving in. Our career development office is investing more into building relationships with tech firms & students are placing increasingly more on the west coast. We also send a boatload of people to Amazon every year.
