There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
I'm in the same pool (R1 reject). As much as it would be great that ISB starts accepting reviewing rejections, it's very difficult to tell with their process.
Normally how things proceed is that if they had sufficient number of Digital Marketing grad in shortlist and if they had higher GMATs, the person with lower count might get rejected despite great applications and experience.
This is the entire reason why people keep pitching diversity - some amazing POR in college or some great track record with promotions are a couple of things I have seen do the trick.
Rest assured, it's all a competitions with your selective pool (digi mar) and how many they think they want in the batch.
This is only what I have found out till now. Take it with a pinch of salt.
While any reasoning here would amount to pure speculation, here is what we feel.
ISB does value entrepreneurial/differentiated experience immensely. Moreover, one never knows if ISB had more applicants with a similar background (in digital marketing) and better GMAT scores along with more meaningful achievements.
To add to the same, a lot also depends on how well you were able to put forth your career goals and demonstrate diversity in your essays.
In short, a number of factors play out besides just the GMAT score - factors you can both control as well as cannot.
Do not get too bogged down by the rejection; focus on the upcoming year and on building your profile for the same.
