I have a general question.
I have done a bunch of research about veterans going to top business schools but one thing I can't help but notice is that I rarely see Air Force veterans. I'm curious about why that is? Is it because AF veterans are less likely to go to B School because our skill set translates better to civilian jobs? (I don't know if that premise is even true.) Or is it for another reason like B Schools prefer the other services because because of the battlefield experience these candidates have?
Here is my concern. It has been said to me, as it applies to Air Force veterans, B Schools want pilots.
I am not a pilot.
I am a aircraft maintenance officer. I could go into why this makes me an excellent candidate (there is no other position in the AF where you lead as many people at a young age) but I want to know if there is a certain stigma attached to non pilots from the Air Force. I would say about 1 out of every 15 military profiles I see are AF and even when they are, they are usually pilots and/or from the academy.
For the record, I did AFROTC and I majored in finance. I want to be in a top 10 school.
