Good question and I'm sure super relevant for you and your fellow Indian applicants. I would say my personal rule of thumb is plan to at the minimum hit the average or higher to see yourself as a truly competitive candidate. The higher over the average you are the better shape you will be here and the lower the opposite. GMAT is not the end all be all but in such a competitive applicant pool you want to make yourself as competitive as possible.
Hope this helps!

Yup. I knew that a higher GMAT helps :)

What I was really asking was now that I have a GMAT score, how do I figure out my odds at a particular school?
