Profile evaluation request. GMAT 720. Civil Engineer. Indian Male.

Question

Greetings,

I recently appeared for GMAT and scored 720 (Q49 V40 IR5)
My profile -
* Indian Male. Engg grad (civil engineering) with 5 year exp.
* currently working with government department associated with industrial development in the country.
* job responsibilities includes supervising infrastructure development required for industries
and marketing state policies and facilities to attract various mncs.

My score was sent to ISB, UCLA, HAAS, STANFORD

Please let me know what are my chances and which B-school should I actually apply to. Can I get any of the above? Should I reappear for GMAT?

Thanks for sharing your profile. Nice score on the GMAT, with the exception of Stanford you should be in range for the schools listed. You did not share that much information so based off of what was shared you are coming from a very competitive applicant pool so you should aim to be above the average scores at your target programs to maximize your odds. Also, scores aside you fit and rationale for pursuing an MBA at your target schools should be clear. Finally, you will need to really highlight what makes you unique as a candidate. There will be many similar applicants applying to these schools so make sure you are identifying ways in which you stand out from the masses.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Below are some of the details which were missed out earlier.

*I have done my graduation in Civil engineering from National Institute Of technology, Surat and secured 8.14 CGPA out of 10.
*After graduation I worked for Essar oil for a year.
*Thereafter I was selected as class 2 officer in Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, which is state government department involved in encouraging Industrial development in the state of Gujarat, India.
*As an officer of the corporation I have looked after several civil engineering related projects, like developing water supply schemes, road networks, storm water disposal systems etc.
*As a whole it can be said that my total work experience is mostly related to civil engineering and now I am looking forward to a shift in career.
*On the extra curricular side I am deeply interested in music and also hold a degree in music (for tabla-classical Indian instrument.)

I hope above extra information may be useful to you in further guiding me. Please let me know what are my chances for Haas and Anderson and which B-school should I actually apply to.

Thanks for the additional info, you are in range at both of those programs and probably can be competitive at programs in the top 15 - 25 range. It's key here to really connect the dots for admissions on why their particular school interests you and how you will reach your development goals via their offerings. With most Indian candidates you should look to stand out and identify unique elements of your applicant story to grab one of the limited spots at these schools.
