Hey guys
any help/advice plz.
I'm among the group of old guys for b-school: working with state department for 10 years, posted to Asian countries like China and Japan, for I'm Asian and speak, well, Chinese--both Mandarin and Cantonese--my dad's from Singapore, Japanese--my mom from Japan, French, I went to Lycée Francais de New York, a pretty decent bilingual school in the city.
I have strong connections to both of them, the new market and the old market, and that's why I'd like to go to a b school, accumulating some local resources to start up my own trade business--basically for cultural goods.
Well, I literally grew up in the city so went to NYU--that was the other problem for my application. It's in the city so college for me was pretty like--thinking about where NYU is located--boozin in chelsea, partayin in hell's kitchen. long in short, my gpa was pretty low. will reprint my transcript soon but my rough calculation was quite like 2.8-3.2--ugh ugh ugh
i took all the four official gmatprep practice tests: 710, 740, 780, 730 ignore the highest one coz i thought it resulted from some overlapping questions--not exactly the same but definitely pretty identical
i majored in art history but thanks to my Asian genes, I'm strong in maths, too.
this is what I can have:
a decent gmat score--I'm eyeing around 750+/-20
quite strong recommendations--my boss, quite somebody in the department and a towering curator/socialite I've been working with in the city
essay, well, i can make it semantically nice
old age, i'm 32
too long working experiences and unfortunately I've been artsy so never working in a bank or fund or whatever financial institutions
low gpa
is there any chance I can be admitted to the top 10 b schools? will the gmat score offset the horribly negative impact of my **** gpa?
any advice please, please please
