Hello all,
Long time lingerer, first time poster here.
A bit about my profile,
White
GMAT-730 (96%)-40 (91%) verbal, 49 (79%) quant, 6 AWA, 8 IR (sat May 2015)
3.08 GPA Mathematics & Economics double major from a top liberal arts school in the Northeastern, U.S.-lower GPA than I am capable of
Sparing the gory details, I became seriously ill my sophomore year and spent a large portion of the year in and out of the hospital/was unable to study. Paired with my grueling double major course, my GPA suffered. I studied abroad in England my junior year and my GPA for that year did not contribute to my CGPA (although since I was told this, I was a bit immature at the time and I focused more on traveling, athletics and developing relationships/learning from my foreign comrades than strapping down on the academics. My GPA wasn't great here either) Both of which I will be discussing in the optional essays.
I currently work as a senior commercial real estate credit analyst at a regional bank located in the Northeast. I have been with the firm since graduating in 2013 and received two promotions from my original post in that time. I am the youngest analyst(both in age and experience) to be promoted to senior analyst within the region. As things are now, I don't see any additional advancement opportunities opening up within the region within next six months+. Overall its a pretty vanilla profile, I know, but hoping the real estate analyst role from a regional bank will help set me apart from the rest of the financial crowd?
Extracurriculars:
I was a Div 1 rower, rowed internationally and competed at the Henley Royal Regatta.
I am on several boards for a mental health nonprofit that promotes awareness and provides analyses on the efficacy of state funded programs.
Short term I wish to continue in real estate preferably on the buyside with the long term goal of transitioning to lead the family real estate investment business.
I'm currently targeting Columbia ED, Yale, NYU, Georgetown, Wharton, Duke and Cornell in that order for fall 2017 matriculation. (I have a significant other to think about in terms of her job placement)-Is this an unrealistic list?
Now for the reason why I have posted here as opposed to the areas specific to each consulting firm. I intend to enlist a consultant and I am currently vetting several. Many seem fairly comparable and I am struggling to decide the best fit (as there is quite a bit of money involved). Does anyone have any questions they have used (or suggested questions) to vet and choose a consultant. As I have the set geographical areas (list of schools) due to job placement for my significant other, have done some pretty heavy brain storming (have a good grasp on the story I want to tell) and have made good headway on the essays for Columbia, I am beginning to lean more towards a la carte services... I think.. With so much at stake it is difficult to be certain on anything.
Do your worst/Have at it!
Thanks in advance and feel free to PM me.
