If x * y = xy -2 (x + y) for all integers x and y, the 2 * -3 =

A) -16

B) -11

C) -4

D) 4

E) 16

We let x = 2 and y = -3, and then we substitute those values for x and y into the expression xy - 2(x + y):

2 * -3 = (2)(-3) - 2(2 + (-3)) = -6 - 2(-1) = -6 + 2 = -4

Answer: C

If \(x = 2, y = -3: -6 - 2(2-3) = -6 +2 = -4\)

If \(x = -3, y = 2: -6 -2(-3+2) = -6+2 = -4.\)

Ans - C.

\(2 * -3 = 2 * -3 -2(2 - 3)\)

Or, \(2 * -3 =-6 + 2\)

Or, \(2 * -3 =-4\), Answer must be (C)
