If m is a positive integer, is m odd?

Stat1: m= 2k + 1
We can have k=0 or fraction or Integer, So, m= 1,2,3,4,5,6....at k=0,1/2,1,3/2,2,5/2....Respectively. We are not sure, if m is even or odd. Not sufficient.

Stat2: m is a multiple of 3
We can have m=0,3,6,9....We are not sure, if m is even or odd. Not sufficient.

Combining stat1 and 2,
m=3,6,9....So, again, we are not sure, if m is even or odd. Not sufficient.

So, I think E. :)

But when we take 1&2 combined, 6 can be made from 2k+1 if k = 5/2. I don't see any restriction on k, so I guess even both cannot answer the question and I would say answer E. What do you think?

Hi Bryan180599

Yes. I skipped this even though I took fractional values of K into account for statement 1.
Thanks for pointing out.

If m is a positive integer, is m odd?

(1) m= 2k + 1
If K is an integer, then m = odd
But if K=0.5, then m = even
Option I - NOT SUFFICIENT

(2) m is a multiple of 3
M can be 3 or 6
Option II - NOT SUFFICIENT

Option (1) + (2) together
If K = 1, then M=3 , which is Odd
If K=2.5, then M=6, which is even
Option (1) and (2) together - NOT SUFFICIENT
