Hi guys,
Need Help!
I have received an admit from Kelley with full scholarship and from McCombs with partial scholarship. I am confused between the two.
Going to McCombs will lead to an additional cost of $80,000 (ie the difference b/w the spending at the 2 schools).
Being an international I have my concerns about the visa and H1B scene in US currently is bad and hence taking a loan is something I am not looking forward to. But then McCombs has a huge location advantage. Is it worth spending a huge amount for the better location and slightly better ranked school?
Can you shed lights about your short and log term goals? it will help others give you better advice
Yes right.
So currently I am working in corporate communications and post MBA I want to enter into marketing. For now I am not oriented to one particular industry.
I might also think of strategy consulting.
It is not really an easy decision.
Both are great schools within close rankings. I would not pay that attention if one tops the other. Both are great regionally.
I visited Kelley before and have friends there too. It is nice school for many things. In consulting, they have consulting academy and marketing academy which will help you you. However, most consulting firms, as told by Consulting academy director, are 2nd tier like Deloitte or Accenture with few making their way to Mckinsey and very very rare to BCG or Bain. For marketing, they are also known for marketing but it is known field for citizens not internationals. You need to check with career service or academy career coach directly.
McCombs is great school in vibrant city and local MBB offices recruit from there. It is more accessible than Kelley. the weather is warm. You need to check the marketing opportunities for internationals too
Good lcuk
