1) Consider GRE too as GMAT might be challenging exam for you.
GMAT FE safe score: 645
GRE safe score: 320
(For interview invites)

2) Gap is always an issue but how manageable it is can be evaluated with a discussion. (DM if you like to discuss)

3) No. It’s alright to target R2 and what you heard about seats in incorrect.

R-2 rolls out maximum offers.

Hi MakB,

You have a niche and differentiated profile, which is definitely a positive since doctors are still not very heavily represented across cohorts at programs like ISB and other top one-year MBAs. Your academics are strong as well, which further strengthens the profile.
One area that could raise some concern is the relatively short stints across 3 organizations, so you will need to explain those transitions clearly and coherently in your applications and interviews. Your stint in father's business could add a unique element to your profile.

Your post-MBA goals in healthcare/pharma strategy look logical and well aligned with your prior experience.
To stay competitive, ideally target a GMAT FE score around 675 or a GRE score in the range of 325–327.

All the Best!

Happy to connect if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.

You actually have a very strong profile for Indian School of Business.

Medical backgrounds already stand out at ISB, and your profile has much more than just clinical work. The NHM admin role, handling teams/population healthcare, helping in your father’s business, and the edtech sales work all add a lot of leadership + business exposure.

Your goals also make sense. MBBS → healthtech/pharma strategy is a very natural story. The only major thing now is GMAT. That’ll decide a lot. If you can get a strong score (around 685+ FE range), you’ll be in a really good spot.

Also don’t undersell the family business part in essays/interviews. That experience probably shaped you more than you realize. Overall, this feels like the kind of profile ISB usually likes because it’s differentiated and has real leadership/impact beyond academics.

You have a strong and differentiated profile especially because of the startup founding-member experience and cross-industry exposure in marketing.

Good academics overall
Founding member at a fast-growing space-tech startup is a strong differentiator
Diverse exposure across D2C, SaaS, and FinTech
Strong extracurricular leadership (TEDx, AIESEC, sports, drama)

For scholarships, execution matters even more. ISB scholarships are competitive, so GMAT becomes very important.

with 705+ and strong essays, you have a very good shot at ISB R1 and a realistic chance at scholarship consideration as well. Your story already has good differentiation. The key is presenting clear impact and a tight narrative around marketing/product goals.

Would like to understand:
1. Are my Class 10 (91%) and Class 12 (88%) scores a concern for ISB PGP YL?
2. Will switching from DE Shaw to Ditto after ~1 year hurt my application?
3. What GMAT score should I be targeting given this profile?
4. Is my profile competitive enough against the application pool?

Thank you🪬!
A very strong and highly competitive profile for PGP YL, assuming you meet the YL eligibility criteria/work experience limits for the intake year especially since I couldn't makeout your total full time experience.

From what you shared, I could make out roughly:

~1 year at DE Shaw
Ditto starting Jun 2026 and ongoing at application time

Note that Max full time workex is 24 months for YLP.

So your total experience appears to be in the early-career range, but please double check and calculate.

To answer your questions directly:

1. 10th/12th scores a concern?
No. 91% and 88% are completely fine. Combined with a 9.1 GPA and merit scholarships, academics are a strength.

2. Will DE Shaw to Ditto hurt?
No. If positioned well, it actually helps. Moving into a founders office/strategy role for higher ownership is a logical progression, not job hopping.

3. GMAT target?
Target GMAT Focus: 675+

4. Competitive enough?
Yes, very much. Strong academics, DE Shaw brand, founders office exposure, measurable impact, case wins, leadership, volunteering, and first-generation college graduate story make this a standout YL profile.

Focus on GMAT followed by essays, recommendations, and interview quality.
