Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s book The Coming of the Fairies revealed that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist affected in both his private life and his friendships by his belief in psychic phenomena.

(A) that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist affected in both his private life and

(B) that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and also affected in his his private life and

(C) this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and that he was affected in both his private life and

(D) this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and that he was affected in both his private life as well as

(E) this creator of the most famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, to have been a spiritualist and that he affected himself both in his private life as well as

Please assist with above problem.

We need that clause
So C, D, E are out.Now look into A nad B

(A)Correct that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist affected in both his private life and
Both..... and...... maintains parallelism.

(B) Incorrectthat this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and also affected in his his private life and
Parallelism error. spritualist is not parallel to affected. also is also unnecessary.

(C) Incorrectthis creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and that he was affected in both his private life and

(D) Incorrectthis creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and that he was affected in both his private life as well as

(E)Incorrect this creator of the most famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, to have been a spiritualist and that he affected himself both in his private life as well as

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s book The Coming of the Fairies revealed that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist affected in both his private life and his friendships by his belief in psychic phenomena.

A. that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist affected in both his private life and
Correct. "affected" modifies "a spiritualist".

B. that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and also affected in both his private life and
the structure: "... revealed that ... Sherlock Holmes was a spiritualist and also affected in both his private life and his friendships ..." is wrong since "affected" modifies "Sherlock Holmes" rather than "a spiritalist"

C. this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and that he was affected in both his private life and
"revealed that he was effected in both...", "he" here seems to refer to "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle".

D. this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and that he was affected in both his private life as well as
same as C

E. this creator of the most famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, to have been a spiritualist and that he affected himself both in his private life as well as
"to have been..." is awkward.

A. that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist affected in both his private life and
Correct: Affected is -ed modifier correctly modifying nearest noun spiritualist.

B. that this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and also affected in both his private life and
Changes intended meaning of sentence by inserting and also
C. this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and that he was affected in both his private life and
he is ambigious
D. this creator of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, was a spiritualist and that he was affected in both his private life as well as
he is ambigious
E. this creator of the most famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who valued reason above all other qualities, to have been a spiritualist and that he affected himself both in his private life as well as
to have been is awkward and wordy, no clear reference for he

B is incorrect because of and also affected. And & also placed next to each other causes redundancy.

C, D & E have more than one error.

Let's validate C - this creature....was a spiritualist and that he was..... In this sentence we have a parallelism marker "and" . X and Y. Both X & Y should be parallel.

D - has parallelism error as in C. It also has idiom error " both X and Y". But in D it uses "both X as well as Y" This is incorrect.

E - has parallelism error of C and Idiom error of D.

A is the best of All.

Can anyone share the role of "affected" here, if it is a Verb-ed modifier then what is it modifying

straight- no doubts about that. 'affected' modifies the noun just in front namely spiritualist. The spiritualist didn't affect anything. He was affected(was influenced) by his belief

Why is he ambiguous? Can only possibly refer to Sherlock since Sir Arthur has been used as a possessive noun here. Grammatically and logically, he only has one antecedent here.
