How does the years of experience impact candidate selection, especially in IIMs? I have 10+ years of exp. Will this be an issue?

I would look at the class profile of the program you are applying to. I am not too familiar with IIMs but I believe they welcome experience for the Exec programs.

Well crossing the requisite work experience(approx 5 yrs in case of IIMs) by double margin definitely raises the eyebrows of Admission committee, but based on the past success stories of applicants with similar work-ex you can take inspiration to pursue your case strongly with more vigor.

Things which may help for selection-

1) An excellent GMAT score--ranging way above the past median scores of that particular college.

2) A well designed profile

3) Good LORs & SOPs

4) most important "Interview performance"

these points definitely will help to convince the Adcom that you will be a worthy addition to the college and will add value with your experience and aptitude.

Thanks to Akp880, as you have focused on the overall package. Is it possible to see any documents or statistics that IIM received a certain number of candidates with years of experience?

not an india pro, but 10+ years experience is almost universally EMBA territory
