Manhattan Prep with Dhivya Arumugham - WORTH IT

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

The live Manhattan Prep GMAT course was critical to my success and enabled me to ultimately score a 740. My instructor, Dhivya Arumugham was very well-prepared, articulate and knowledgeable. I would really recommend Dhivya as an instructor - she provides clear, concise explanations of problems, has a good sense of humor and brings a lot of energy to some mundane topics.

The course is very structured and incorporates quant, verbal, and test taking strategy each week. The online learning portal makes it very easy to manage your assignments weekly, track progress, and flag areas of weakness to review. I took the exam for the first time only two days after the course ended (which is not recommended) and scored a 690. After another month of review using the official guide and other quant drills, I scored a 740. I am convinced that Manhattan prep was key to my success and the price was well worth it.

They also provide additional resources including webinars about certain test areas, selecting the right schools for you, applications, and interviews. You have access to an individual review of a practice exam with an instructor to create a study plan. I also received a free half-hour session with an admissions consultant who helped tremendously and could answer questions about the specific schools to which I applied.

Great way to prepare for the GMAT

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took a GMAT prep class at Manhattan Prep with Laurel Hanson in late 2017, and highly recommend the course. Laurel is a fantastic teacher and makes what could be a very dry course fun. She's smart, patient, and has a ton of easy tricks that help not only with learning the material (which most students haven't encountered since high school), but also with timing (which, for a lot of people, is the hardest part of the GMAT). The books you receive when you sign up for the course are extremely helpful as well, and make high-quality studying after the course has finished entirely doable.

Ryan was amazing!!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I would highly recommend taking the Manhattan Prep class with Ryan McGorman. He was captivating, adapted to all ability levels, and was always available by email for questions outside of class. He taught us a lot of good tips and tricks for time saving on math problems. Additionally, he gave us a lot of great strategy tips for maximizing our scores.

As for Manhattan Prep, all of the online resources were very helpful, especially the yellow pad technique! The course was well designed and I liked that we did math AND verbal in every class, so our brains didn't get too fatigued looking at the same type of problem for 3 hours. The CAT exams tended to be harder than my actual GMAT, so I felt confident while taking the exam.

Great GMAT course experience

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

I took the GMAT prep class with Mike Morgan as the instructor. He is a great teacher and engages the class when he teaches the content and gives good advice and tips for approaching questions. He is also available to answer questions that you have via email or after class.

The course was helpful in learning some GMAT test taking tips and approaches. After taking a few practice tests and doing the OG problems online in the Navigator, I would recommend reviewing them using their tracker and assessment reports. They help you identify your area of focus.

Manhattan Prep gives you the resources and tools to succeed but ultimately, it is up to you to take the time to prepare for the test. You also need to know what your goal is and be proactive about how you can reach that your ideal score.

Manhattan Prep - Shelton Windham

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the complete GMAT prep course with Shelton, and it was a great experience. He delivered really high-quality, exploratory lectures that really dove into the heart of what the GMAT tests: logic. My first practice score was a 580, and I ended up with a 760 when I finally took the GMAT.

I saw my practice test scores go up considerably during the duration of the course, and kept studying on my own well past the end of the class. My time with Shelton proved more valuable the longer I studied, and I really credit a lot of my success both to his actual instruction and his methodical way of teaching his students to analyze their own weaknesses and address them head-on.

There are no miracles when it comes to test-prep, and you won't wake up with a 700+ score if you don't put in the effort. If you're willing to work for it, though, there's no better choice than Shelton to get you up-to-snuff with the material.

Overall, a great experience

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took a GMAT Prep class at Manhattan Prep with Mike Morgan as my instructor. He did a great job teaching the class, keeping us accountable without too much pressure, and making complex concepts easy to digest.

Sure, taking a class on Saturday mornings for two months doesn't sound like all that much fun, but this test really requires that you commit. On a few occasions, when I wasn't able to make the Saturday class, I took classes after work during the week. I found that I was totally wiped out by the time I got there - I recommend doing this on weekends!

The course includes a wealth of study resources – more than anyone should really need. If you follow the program, you will improve. Stay loose, trust the experts. You got this1

Highly recommend this course

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

I can't recommend the Manhattan Prep course and my instructor Mike Morgan enough.

My score increased from a 590 to a 720 thanks to Mike's highly effective teaching methods. He not only knows the material & test strategy like the back of his hand, but is also a truly skilled teacher that is able to translate difficult concepts into easily digestible learning material. Mike also genuinely cares about his students and deeply wants them to succeed, which is another component in his effectiveness as a GMAT instructor.

The program itself is designed in a highly targeted yet comprehensive way and absolutely sets students up for success.

Joshua helped me break 700!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Improvement 110 Points

Course Manhattan Prep GMAT Private Tutoring

Instructor Josh Braslow

Location New York (Manhattan), NY USA

Prior to starting private on-line tutoring with Joshua, I took a Manhattan Prep review course with Isaac. The review course helped me re-learn a majority of the quant material, but I needed additional help preparing for the sentence correction and critical reasoning parts of the exam. After the course and prior to starting with Joshua, I was consistently scoring around a 600 on practice tests, with low verbal scores (31/32).

My sessions with Joshua were challenging and often focused on sentence correction. He assigned thoughtful homework after each session that truly helped me finally understand the material. Joshua completely transformed the way I approached sentence correction, allowing me to bring up my verbal score to a 40.

Joshua also taught me a number of test taking strategies that helped with my quant timing and data sufficiency, helping me improve my quant score from 43 to a 47.

Overall, Joshua is an extremely patient and knowledgeable tutor. I believe he is the reason why I was able to surpass the 700 mark. I strongly recommend working with Joshua if you are looking to achieve your goal score on the GMAT.

720 from 590. David Mahler - The best.

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Improvement 130 Points

Course Manhattan Prep GMAT Private Tutoring

Instructor David Mahler

Location New York (Manhattan), NY USA

Got my target 720 score after approx 4 months that comprised self study, Manhattan Prep's 9-week course on Wall street Manhattan (David Mahler was our instructor), and private tutoring (also with Dave Mahler). I started with a 590 Manhattan Prep GMAT practice test. Quite frankly, I could not have managed the 720 without Manhattan Prep.

1. The 9-week course: This was a great start for me as my math skills were very rusty (haven't touched math since high school and my day-to-day work doesn't require the use of any meaningful quant skill - I'm a lawyer). The math foundations and GMAT test strategies explored in class were concise and immediately helpful. Dave Mahler was our instructor - I highly recommend him for the clarity with which he explains tough concepts (particularly Data Sufficiency and Critical Reasoning). FYI the 9-week course comes with the full suite of Manhattan Prep Books, which were all great - concise, clear, and effective - no verbiage which is good for busy professionals.

2. Private tutoring: After the 9 week course, I spent a couple of weeks wrapping up the GMAT OG and then I took a real GMAT test. Bombed it. I decided I needed more targetted tutoring, so I splurged on the private tutoring (8 lessons in total). This was worth every penny. Dave diagnosed my flawed test-taking strategies, and his private lessons sharpened my quant and verbal reasoning skills. These lessons were challenging but crucial to my success on the test - he would often ask me to explain my thought processes WHILE I solved tough problems (DS, PS, SC, CR), and this invariably forces you to think critically about every single step in your own problem-solving process. Every step in my problem-solving process was critiqued and improved upon. As important, Dave was extremely optimistic and encouraging throughout this whole process. He was a firm supporter and you feel that he's invested in your success.

TL DR: Manhattan Prep's 9 week course and private tutoring are both very strongly recommended. Manhattan Prep's books are very strongly recommended. Dave Mahler is very strongly recommended.
