Manhattan Prep was awesome. And Laurel, my instructor in the UES was SUPER awesome. The class was very small -- five people -- so she was able to tailor content to students needs. I took the GMAT twice. Choked the first time but Laurel coached me through retaking ASAP because my score was not reflective of my practice tests (during which I had done my best to simulate test-taking environment). She recommended taking in the same place, doing visualization exercises to put myself into test mode, and rescheduling TWO tests -- one where I planned to cancel that I would schedule as soon at GMAT would allow me to and one that would be the "real" thing. In the end the test I planned to cancel reflected my goal score! Painful to study for the GMAT but Manhattan Prep makes it as efficient and effective as possible. Highly recommend.

Thank you David, and Manhattan GMAT!

I got my target score of 720+ thanks to Manhattan Prep, and highly recommend the MP program to anyone who is seriously considering applying to a top b-school. I say this for a few reasons:
1) The resources and course content are unparalleled, and very well structured. You start the process by taking a practice test that immediately pin-points your strengths vs areas that may need improvement, and then track your progress by taking more exams throughout the course.
2) The content is carefully curated, and is structured in a way that makes the classes effective without being overwhelming. The MP problem sets enable you to absorb content in the most efficient way.
3) The online interface is well designed and easy to use. Whenever I saw other interfaces friends were using, I was always thankful I decided on MP.
4) The instructor that I had (David Mahler) was amazing. He was intelligent, personable, always prepared, and a great teacher. He was diligent in answering emails, and always made himself available to students.
5) On top of the classes, Manhattan Prep offered a ton of events with top MBA programs which really helps when you get to the application stage.

Great Course; Great Teacher

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Really enjoyed my course with David Mahler. My first practice exam was in the 500's range and I ended up with a 770. Even though I could have studied alone, the course itself added great structure, with amazing advice / techniques from David. Then of course, Manhattan Prep has amazing materials / practice tests etc. which get you to an advanced level.

Overall, I recommend the course for anyone, no matter what level they are on the test, unless you're in a particular rush or require individual attention. The structure of going to a weekly course is particularly helpful and the weekly assignments keep you on pace and on track.

Thanks a lot David!!!

Course Manhattan Prep GMAT Private Tutoring

Instructor Mark Sullivan

Location New York (Manhattan), NY USA

I took a class at Manhattan Prep in late summer/early fall and took the GMAT for the first time in October. I did well below my goal score. My work schedule this fall was insane and I traveled a lot of weekends so I really needed to maximize what time i did have. My Manhattan Prep private tutoring did just that. I did mine online for 8 hours total (2 hours a week for 4 weeks). My instructor came prepared to each session and was able to answer every question that I had. He gave me an exact practice schedule of what I needed to do before our next meeting session.

Also, don't be afraid to sign up for the course online. I wanted to do mine in person, but the online was just as effective. The scheduling of the sessions was pretty flexible which was important for my schedule. I highly recommend!

Ceilidh is amazing

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I cannot stress strongly enough how crucial Ceilidh was to achieving my successful score. 9 straight Sundays, 4 hours of class...yet enjoyable because she made it easy for all of us to follow along, understand the structure and goals of the test, and feel confident. Did a great job going down rabbit holes with the advanced learners and didn't let slower students bog down the rest of the class, although she still made sure they were able to keep up as well. I beat my original practice score (540) by 230 points and wasn't even sweating during the real exam. All Ceilidh I swear

Good Course & Instructor

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

The course moves at a very fast pace, so be prepared to put in many hours of additional work outside of the lectures. My instructor was Joe Martin and he was fantastic. He was very engaging and seemed to truly care about the success of his students. I would say this course is perfect for anybody who is striving for a top score. While I was only scoring around 650 on the Manhattan GMAT practice exams, I managed to get a 730 on the actual exam on my first try. So don’t let the practice exams get you too nervous! They are far more challenging than the actual exam. The course also has a seemingly never-ending amount of resources for students to utilize, so you’ll always have material to practice with. I highly recommend using their Navigator online tracking tool, it is very helpful in tracking your progress. I also found the mobile app to be helpful. While it is not ideal for very tough problems, it is a good way to practice basic concepts while on the go. Overall I would highly recommend both this course and my instructor.

When I first started my GMAT journey, I assumed it wouldn’t be that difficult. I had always been a strong student…this will be easy. Much to my surprise, my initial score on a practice exam was abysmal (which, I was told, is not uncommon). I wanted to apply to a top ten school, and my mind was set on a 700+, so, it was time for tutoring. I decided to take the Manhattan GMAT Boot camp as well as use Reed Arnold as a private tutor. The resources and instruction at Manhattan are truly incredible. Be aware, that your score will not jump without commitment, but each teacher I worked with was patient and supportive along the way. The boot camp is a bit of a firehose, but both Laurel and Dhivya made a somewhat daunting two weeks more enjoyable. Both instructors were personable and kind, and most importantly, spent a tremendous amount of time assisting each student with developing the correct INDIVIDUALIZED strategy for studying, focusing on specific topics to help boost our scores. This test is not a “one size fits all approach”, and they really help you to recognize this. Their instruction was thorough and clear, and if you are working with a limited amount of time to study – WITH FOCUS – it is the best way to learn all of the material on the test.

Reed deserves a medal for putting up with my ebbs and flows of commitment over the past few months. He was attentive and supportive, and extremely responsive to all questions and needs along the way. His feedback was direct (and appreciated!) – he certainly didn’t sugar coat it, but it really pushed me to get to where I needed to be. His one-on-one instruction was very clear – he was articulate in explaining difficult topics to me, and even I claimed I understood something, he’d keep pushing with more difficult problems until I had mastered a concept. With his support, I developed a clear and manageable strategy for conquering the test – and wound up scoring over 700 on my first try. AND, even when I decided to push it even further to try to boost my score a bit more, he was extremely accommodating and continued to support me along the way. This is not to say that everyone who enrolls will miraculously jump over 150 points – as he explained – it takes a very methodical approach. Constant review, repetition and practice is key.

A+ overall. I highly, highly recommend to anyone looking to take the GMAT. It was worth the investment, and I am far more confident in applying to school.

Manhattan Prep 9-week course GMAT review

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

This course was a great starting point to getting me kicked off on my GMAT prep. You go through all the content and get familiarized with all the different types of questions, guided by an instructor who knows the best techniques and teaches you how to approach the exam both from a holistic viewpoint (timing, mindset, scoring system, etc) and a sectioned viewpoint (specific question-type techniques).

I found that ultimately, my score only got better the more I practiced on my own and the more practice tests I took. This course was super important in guiding my approach and ensuring I was tackling questions and problems the right way.

Great Success with Manhattan Prep

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took a 9-session GMAT prep class with Manhattan Prep in the fall of 2016 and had great success. My instructor was David Mahler and he did a really good job at getting the class involved and fostering discussion around the questions. I took a practice test completely cold before attending the class or reviewing any materials and got a 600. After completing the class I studied independently for another month and then scored a 720. My target score was anything above a 700 so I was very happy with my result. Below is pro/con summary of the Manhattan Prep (MGMAT) class:

Pros:
- Attending class keeps you motivated and focused on studying for the GMAT and provides a structured curriculum
- MGMAT study materials are very good
- The class forces you to take additional practice tests which is very valuable and you can the practice tests at their office in the test environment which is similar to the actual test
- My instructor, David Mahler, was very patient and good at explaining the material and get the class thinking on their own how to solve problems
- The course provides a good homework curriculum outside of class. There is significant homework (if you are serious about studying, around 15 hours a week) but in my book this is a good thing. The homework is typically studying lessons from MGMAT materials and then associated problem sets in the Official Guide.

Cons:
- My only complaint is that I would have liked to focus on more advanced math concepts in class (the homework curriculum and study guides include advanced math concepts, however we did not go that deep in class)

Bottom Line: If you are serious about scoring well on the GMAT and putting in the work, there is no doubt that Manhattan Prep will boost your score. I would 100% recommend to anyone planning on taking the test.

Instructor Josh Braslow

I signed up for private tutoring classes with Joshua Braslow and got great results! Joshua was not only very knowledgeable but also very easy to work with. Over the 2-3 months of lessons, we were able to work on a number of my weaknesses and with his help, we were able to turn those weaknesses into strengths. Johsua provided me with a number of different test taking strategies to help me with my timing and a bunch of tips which helped vastly improve my quant and verbal performance. When I started studying I scored a 580 on a practice test. By the time I took the official exam, I finished with a 710 (45Q/41V)!
