Great Prep Course with Manhattan Prep's Instructor Eric Caballero

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the GMAT class with Eric Caballero as highly recommended by my friend, who scored 750+. The first class I had with Eric, I realized he is AWESOME! Not only he was able to explain questions clearly, he taught the strategy of solving questions given limited time. Plus, he is very nice and has good humor.

When I took my first mock test (un-timed) before the class, I scored 700+, however it took me more than twice of the time allowed to finish it. After taking the class with Eric and finishing homework assigned, I was able to solve most questions within suggested time. A month after I finished the class, I was able to score 750+ on my official test. Kudos to Manhattan Prep and Eric!

I would suggest Manhattan prep and Eric to anyone who wants to crack the GMAT and avoid lengthy preparation time.

Great class

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the 9-week course with Dan in Chelsea Manhattan and it was really great. Dan was a smart, patient teacher and kept things as engaging as you could. The materials are excellent. There is a lot of homework but it definitely keeps you on the right track. It was a really good foundation. To be honest what really brought my score up was taking a bunch of practice tests once the class was done but the class was great for learning the material.

I was really happy with my score in the end, it went up a lot over the course of the class. With the practice tests I would say the true GMAT math is a lot easier and the verbal is a little harder. I supplemented with actual GMAC exams.

Recommend Manhattan Prep GMAT

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the 9 week course with Gregg Lachow. He was an excellent instructor. I found that the class moved at a good clip which I really appreciated since I was aiming for a high score. He was very clear in his explanations and as good at responding to all types of questions. I found him to be equally adept at verbal and quant. He has a passion / gift for teaching and a great attitude. He is also pretty funny which helps due to the boring nature of the topic.

In some ways, the course is really what you make of it. I sort of stopped doing the homework halfway through and I didn't get nearly as much benefit (no surprise there). So I strongly recommend doing all the recommended and required homework. I still really was able to master the fundamentals and techniques. The Manhattan Prep method is excellent as are their materials.

Since I didn't do all of the homework I ended up doing a lot of self study with the official guide which I also recommend. I also took advantage of many of the online resources.

Ultimately I scored well and I think it was in large part thanks to Gregg's class.

Manhattan Prep In-Person Course

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

In order to effectively study for the GMAT, I decided to take the Manhattan Prep GMAT Course. To begin with, Manhattan Prep has an extremely well-designed curriculum and course materials, including a host of online resources. In particular, I found the GMAT Navigator Tool (where you can time your practice problems, receive detailed answer explanations, and track your overall progress) to be a useful study aid. The Manhattan Prep practice exams, too, are helpful.

In terms of the course itself, be prepared to spend a significant portion of your time on class homework and preparation. It's a lot, but if you really want to get the most out of the course, I recommend following the syllabus and completing all the homework. Dan, my teacher, was awesome! He made class fun and interesting, which is important given that it is a 3-hour session! He does a great job focusing on the most important and challenging concepts and doesn't waste time covering all the basics. For me, this was perfect, but if you feel that your foundation is shaky, this teaching style may not be for you.

Overall, if you are willing to spend the time and money, I highly recommend the course, especially if you are working full-time and juggling a busy schedule. If you feel that you can stay on track on your own and that you don't need a collaborative study environment that the course provides, then buying the Manhattan Prep books and online resources may be sufficient.

Completely Worth It

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

While the class is expensive, it was money very well spent. I came into the class a little nervous since it had been a while since I’ve either taken a standardized test, or done any simple arithmetic without a calculator. However, Jonathan gave me the confidence to crush the test.

I was pretty happy with my verbal score going into the class, but needed help on the math. With over a 200 point improvement, I can say that he helped in both areas which I found amazing. The class gives you plenty of materials to go through, and it will be extremely hard to run out of practice materials in the nine week span. The materials and online videos are pretty engaging, and coupled with Jonathan’s teaching, was a winning combination.

A Great Investment for a Great Class

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

After taking Manhattan Prep's Course, I took the GMAT and eclipsed my target score with a 720. I hadn't taken any sort of math class since high school, and managed a 47 on the actual test which was well beyond my loftiest expectations, and a 13 point improvement from my first test. Jonathan's presentation of the material was clear and easily understandable, and the environment during class was always relaxed, supportive, and conducive to learning.

Beyond the simple teaching of content, Jonathan's advice on how to handle test anxiety was absolutely crucial to my success. Taking this course was easily the best choice I could have made with regards to this test.

Great instructor and course!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the 9 week course starting this summer with Eric and had a great experience. To start, Eric is an extremely dynamic and engaging teacher. He always told funny stories to keep us interested (without detracting from the course material). He also presented problems in such a way that made you question your answers and affirm to yourself why your answer was correct. Eric really got to know each person in the class (somehow he seemed to know everyone's name by the end of the first class) which helped increase accountability. The three hours of class flew by each week.

The structure of the MGMAT syllabus worked well for me. I liked the breakdown of normal assignments, easier assignments and harder assignments. I felt that I had plenty of practice materials from which to work each week. I was surprised that I did not end up taking too many practice tests, but this is likely because I took the GMAT so soon after ending the course.

Great Course to Add Structure to Studying

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I decided to take the GMAT pretty late in the game, so I figured I needed a course to keep my attention focused. Manhattan was highly recommended and I have to agree.

I started at a 590 on my first practice, I and got a 700 on my first real exam. The key for me was just diving into the types of problems I was missing and learning everything I could about those topics in particular. This is generally how we were taught to study.

I wish I had done a better job of keeping up with the homework and structure set by the course, as I think it definitely helps to learn the same things at home as in class

Manhattan GMAT Review

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I enrolled in the 10 week evening prep course knowing that I would find it nearly impossible to dedicate the time required to do well on the GMAT without some kind of driving force. Manhattan GMAT was the perfect solution. Our teacher, Jonathan Schneider, was knowledgeable, approachable and incredibly engaging. The in-course syllabus set the groundwork for success, and the post-course practice delivered the results I needed. Overall, my score increased 120 points from the diagnostic

Manhattan GMAT properly stresses the most important and most difficult aspects of the exam without neglecting the "little things" than can mean the difference between a 690 and 700. The practice exams are also great, and, while harder than the actual test (in my opinion), allow you to get a feel for what test day will feel like

Manhattan Private Math Tutoring

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took about 5 sessions of private tutoring with Manhattan GMAT. My tutor was helpful, but to really get your score up, I think you would need a great deal of tutoring, much of the session is going over strategy and score trends, kind of annoying when you are paying so much per hour, and my score actually went down after I started with the tutor. The tutoring was in math, and although I felt that it was helpful, it was not that helpful and the tutor Mark did not always show the fastest way to solve the problem, like the 3-4-5 triangle, etc. Not a total waste but not for the faint of heart with their wallet.
