E-gmat - A helpful structured course

Course e-GMAT Online Intensive

When I started my MBA Prep journey, I was preparing in a very unstructured manner. I bought an Official Guide and had a few other resources from a friend but it was all scattered. That's when I decided I need to get enrolled in a course to get everything streamlined and I came across e-gmat. I found the reviews really good and read stories about how it had helped people score good in their first attempt.

The course is well-structured and cover most of the basics. The modules have illustrative videos which help you grab the concepts quicker. The quizzes between different sections are really helpful to test what you have understood and tells you if you have to revisit the concepts. The videos and the methodologies explained really helped me to solve questions faster. I would like to specially highlight their methodologies for the verbal sections. They are well taught and help you understand the question and analyse the question really well. Every question is broken down into several parts in the concept videos and that has really helped me get a good grasp of the concepts.

Another useful tool in the e-gmat course is the Scholoranium which has a good collection of questions and is designed in a way to help you get valuable insights about your performance - on average time taken to solve questions, sectional accuracy, topic-wise accuracy, performance graphs over a shorter period of time, etc. It's definitely the USP of e-gmat.

Mock tests are also available with the course which further helped me acclimatise to the GMAT test. The questions and the flow of questions are quite representative of the official GMAT test.

To sum up, e-gmat really helped me and I managed to score a 700 in my first attempt. However, I plan to seek mentorship guidance from e-gmat further to improve my score to attain my target score.

Additional Feedback after I took the mentorship -

To add on, I took a mentorship from e-gmat and my mentor is Dhananjay Lowe from e-gmat. After I took the mentorship, Dhananjay provided me with a study plan which was personalized based on my weaknesses and abilities. He helped me analyze my key areas on improvement and suggested ways in which I could improve on my weak areas. In my first attempt of GMAT, I was not so confident but in my second attempt of GMAT, I was much more confident and was able to complete the sections in time. This was possible only after working on my weak areas continuously and taking custom quizzes as suggested by Dhananjay. I followed his instructions and was able to perform better. I got a better idea on how to analyze customized tests and mock tests after he shared videos with me.

To sum up, e-GMAT really helps you prepare in a hyper-personalized manner, constantly focusing on what areas you are faltering in.

Course GMAT Tutoring in English, Hebrew, Greek, or Arabic

Instructor Harry Duthie

Location Online

I honestly don't know how I can sum up the experience I had with GMAT Ninja into words, but the title probably does that job okay. I owe literally everything to Harry Duthie and the guys at GMAT Ninja.

When I embarked on the long and brutal journey that is the GMAT, I am not even slightly exaggerating when I say I couldn't remember that two negative numbers multiplied together made a positive result. I sat my first GMAT practice exam in order to get my baseline score in December 2020 without any prep beforehand, and scored a dismal 390 (Q14, V27). I knew there was a long road ahead of me and a lot of work to be done if I was to hit my target score of 600.

I started tutoring with Harry on a weekly basis in January 2021, and we went in at the deep end. Quant was my weakest section by far, so we started there. We spent our weekly sessions with roughly 1.5 hours on quant, and then 0.5 hours on Verbal (just to keep that ticking over too). I would then work my way through ~ 20 hours of homework every week, which we would then go through in our next session, and that's really how we worked from January all the way through. At the beginning it was incredibly overwhelming, but I cannot overstate how patient and encouraging Harry was with me. His teaching style is clear and he has this amazing ability to break everything down from scary functions and horrible fractions to some truly evil inequalities and awful data sufficiency problems, all into simple processes that begin to feel (dare I say it?) easy. After about 6 or 7 weeks, it suddenly felt like the lights had been turned on, and everything started making sense to me. I was able to make connections, my mental maths got faster, and he was always encouraging me to keep at it (even through the bleakest moments when I toyed with the idea of giving up entirely).

I sat my first GMAT at the end of April. It was online, from home, using the old exam format where you got no break at all between the sections. That, combined with a particularly difficult proctor, meant that I didn't hit my target score on that first go. No matter though, we kept the tutoring up and began to focus more on exam technique and speed now that the content had been covered. Again, Harry was such an invaluable resource for all of this - we would go through practice exams and he would take the time to watch how I'd attempted the problem, and then show me faster, more efficient ways of doing them (I had a tendency to read a Quant question and panic and just start randomly doing useless sums, so this was a very helpful lesson!). I continued to sit a practice exam every week, and by mid-June, I hit my all time high score of 680 (Q42, V41). This was genuinely something I never, ever, EVER thought I was capable of even getting close to, and it was 100% down to Harry. To put that into perspective, my quant score went from 14 to 42... a 28 point difference.

In the end, after two more attempts and my nerves getting the better of me in the exam room both times, my final real GMAT score was 550. Despite me not hitting what I *thought* I needed, I still managed to get into the school of my choice with that score, and so all was well in the end.

Harry is honestly the biggest legend. He was always there for me, he took time out of his own busy schedule to debrief with me after post-exam tear-filled sessions, he deflected my frustrations and turned them into encouragement, but most importantly, he gave me the confidence and the skills I needed to get through the last nine months. If you are reading this and you are even mildly considering getting tutoring, I cannot implore you enough to go with Harry, or anyone from the GMAT Ninja team. There really is no alternative (and trust me when I say I did a LOT of research before choosing them). I can say with absolute certainty that I would not be doing an MBA right now if it wasn't for them. Charles Bibilos, the founder, not only deserves a nobel prize for education for all the work he's put into making the GMAT accessible for people (he is the reason I scored in the 40's for verbal, check out his sentence correction series on YouTube if you haven't already done so), but he deserves a huge shout out for being so supportive along the way. With his ever-open door policy, he was an incredible sounding board for me and was my very own cheerleader from the sidelines.

No matter your background, no one can deny what a painstakingly tough process this exam can be, nor can you underestimate the pressures it puts on your mental and physical health. Make your life easier and get tutoring with Harry, and if you're anything like me (and I can't believe I'm even writing this) you might even begin to miss GMAT prep once it's all over (!).

620 to 750 -- Mike Maietta is the man!!!!

I cannot thank Mike Maietta enough for helping me get above my goal score!

Before tutoring with Mike, I originally started my GMAT studying with MPrep. After a week of studying, I scored 670 (Q45, V36), which I was excited about, as I was aiming for a 730 with two months of studying. After a month of taking the MPrep course, I retook the CAT and scored...630 (Q43, V33). I was shocked, to say the least, thinking that maybe it was an off day. A week later, to prove that theory, I took my third CAT and scored...620 (Q45, V31). At this point, I knew that I couldn't keep studying as I had been to reach my goal score. I don't blame MPrep's course at all, and I think it was more that I needed individualized 1-1 tutoring, which led me to GMAT Ninja.

Here's how Mike helped me out--
I have a pretty strong background in Quant, but my approach was hindering me. I had a tendency of banking/saving time, missing easy questions, while still missing the harder questions. After a couple of sessions of Mike reminding me this, it finally clicked and my scores improved.

I was considerably weaker on the Critical Reasoning and Sentence Correction portions of Verbal. Mike helped me drill down strategy for CR, helping me understand how to break down arguments to get to the right answer. He also helped me build my SC pretty much from the ground up.

When I scored only a 710 (Q50, V36) on my first official GMAT attempt, Mike helped me come up with strategies to deal with my stress and make sure I stick with the test-taking strategies I had learned. I came in with the mindset knowing that I would struggle a bit with the tough questions, but that I could still get a good score by being consistent. On my second attempt, I improved my V score by 6 points with one additional month of tutoring, scoring an overall 750 (Q50, V42).

I could not have done this without Mike's help. If you're in need of 1-1 tutoring, ask for Mike!!!

Well Begun is Half Done

Course e-GMAT Online 360

Location Online

Having gone through several posts and reviews, I decided to go with e-GMAT for my GMAT preparation needs after hours of deliberation. I am happy to write that the course offerings provided me with all the expertise and skills to perform well in the exam.

Study Plan - As my review subject reads, "Well Begun is Half Done". Having a good study plan took a lot of pressure away. I was provided with a study plan (by e-GMAT Mentor) at the start of the course. The plan helped me focus completely on the execution part and stay organized.

Sentence Correction -
The course module is very well structured and provides you with all the necessary rules/skills to ace the sentence correction section. I was able to eliminate answer choices on deterministic grounds after going through the module. The meaning based approach (with understanding of the sentence structure) is a powerful tool to have, especially when you encounter certain idiomatic usage you're not familiar with.

Critical Reasoning -
A process driven approach with pre-thinking as a step in the process helped me answer critical reasoning questions with more confidence. While it may not be feasible to pre-think all the scenarios, pre-thinking helped me understand the argument better and identify the conclusion.

Reading Comprehension -
I did not finish all the modules in the RC section, but I was provided with quite a few helpful tips on how I could improve my performance in the RC section. The Master Comprehension module helps a lot with the RC section as well.

Quant 2.0 -
The Quant modules are quite extensive and cover all the concepts you need to master the Quant section. Each topic has a diagnostic test to test your current level of expertise, making it easier to personalize the course. I personally ended up spending quite a bit of time on the Quant course and would recommend doing all the modules. Every section has something to offer.

e-GMAT Mentor - Dhananjay
I worked with Dhananjay (DJ) throughout my preparation. You can find a lot of other reviews on the forum praising him for his support. While I won't be adding anything new here, but I do want to add a few words. It was really wonderful to have an expert along side during the last stretch of the preparation. DJ provided me with short study plans to address address areas of concerns and test readiness towards my last leg of preparation. The last mile push is definitely something that helps with the exam day performance. He responded to my queries and concerns in no time. e-GMAT mentor support is an invaluable and a standout feature.

e-GMAT Support
I also interacted with the Support team for concerns related to my subscription. The support team always got back to me in less than a business day.

e-GMAT mentor support is invaluable and a standout feature.

700+ GMAT Score with TTP

Course Target Test Prep Flexible Prep

Target Test Prep is the best comprehensive quantitative GMAT prep you could ask for and it helped me achieve an unbelievable 740 score. The course stands out from its competitors due to the thorough and challenging content and the user-friendliness of the product.
I studied for about 8 months and improved my score from Q39 to Q48. After studying the humanities in college and working for four years in non-technical roles unrelated to business, I knew that I needed a structured plan to approach studying for the GMAT's quantitative section. The TTP course is an unbelievable value because it has so much content, including hundreds of challenging questions and personalized analytics. The hard questions absolutely humbled me, but TTP does a great job of coaching you to analyze and overcome your weaknesses. By the end of my time studying for the GMAT, I could tell that I was approaching questions not only with increased knowledge about math and statistics, but also with an understanding of how to efficiently tackle questions I had never encountered.
In addition to the quant content being outstanding, TTP also offers a very user-friendly product and customer service experience. The user portal is very easy to navigate and has a minimalist look that allows you to focus solely on your prep while you use it. The course content is laid out in a very organized way that allows users to spend maximum time on studying and answering questions instead of wasting time on navigating the site or figuring out where you left off your studies. It's very easy to engage with support staff via chat in the portal and the staff is always prompt and friendly in their responses.
Overall, I would 100% recommend TTP for the aspiring-MBA who is very serious about significantly improving their score. I didn't dream of achieving a 740 before I started the course and now I am well on my way to my dream school.

TTP is the reason I was able to improve my verbal score from V32 to V42 and my overall score from 670 to 730. The questions in SC and CR (and the solutions) are of finest quality. Further, the quant course is very detailed. The quality of questions for both verbal and quant is really good. The hard TTP questions are really tough, but they challenged me to really understand the concepts. In addition to this, the flexible payment plan is amazing. I highly recommend this course to all GMAT aspirants.
Thanks to the entire TTP team. It was a great experience.

Course Manhattan Prep Live Online

Location Online

The Live Online GMAT Prep Course taught by Tiffany Berkebile Manhattan Prep GMAT set me up for success with GMAT (and, subsequently, my MBA applications). For a variety of reasons, I had a crunched application timeline that started on November 1 but I had yet to earn a competitive GMAT score.

Enter, Tiffany Berkebile. After spending one month getting trained in her accelerated sessions, I take the test again, and my score went up 60 points. I improved my verbal by 25 percentile points, quant by 5 percentile points, and earned a perfect 8.0 on IR and 6.0 on AWA.

Tiffany is an excellent communicator, both during and outside the class sessions. She changed my entire perception of the GMAT exam. She taught me new and novel strategies, simplified some of the content, and – really – trained me to be more intuitive when taking the exam. Not for nothing, but intuition is a big help in determining whether one is straying away from a good score. If one has been trained as I have been, they will be able to quickly recover and march on to earn a satisfying score. Finally, she is a wonderful person, with a great sense of humor, and a knack for boosting people’s confidence and spirits as they gear up for this stressful exam.

A quick shout out to Manhattan: Thanks for facilitating this training. And for the fantastic resources, you have offered. Your navigator, score assessment templates, and content were excellent tools without which I would have been underprepared.

Last point: I am under no illusions that the coursework and resources could be expensive for some. But it is very much worth it if you would like to do this right and have no idea where to begin. Good luck and remember to have fun!

I am so thoroughly impressed with the level of quality and easy of use of Target Test Prep. I started my GMAT studying back in late 2020 and anticipated spending 3-4 months of rigorous studying to achieve a 700+. When that turned out to not be the case (time management with work was too difficult), I needed to pivot my strategy -- enter Target Test Prep.

TTP's style of teaching is perfect for working professionals like myself, who were only able to dedicate 30-90min/day of study. My favorite feature is the level of data analytics they capture about your progress. After completing the curriculum, I spent many hours taking their practice tests & quizzes. Over time, TTP clearly indicated which areas I needed to improve upon.

In addition, TTP also provides test-taking guidance -- a feature not always prioritized in many of these GMAT courses. This guidance, such as how to mentally prepare for test day (such as listening to pump-up music) helped me score 40 points above my target.

I whole-heartedly recommend TTP to anyone looking to achieve a 700+ on their GMAT.

The best GMAT prep platform available in the market!

A friend of mine referred e-GMAT to me and before booking a consultation session with them, I read their reviews here on GMAT Club. No doubt, everything said the reviews was true! From the first call itself, I began feeling more organised in my approach. The first thing they asked me to do was make a personalised study plan according to my work schedule. That is probably the best thing about e-GMAT, they have put in A LOT of efforts to make the whole platform extremely personalised, almost eliminating the need of a personal tutor! All you need is determination and dedication.
The verbal course is absolutely the best. After you complete each module, you will be required to give application and cementing quizzes, which do exactly that - cement the concepts you just learned. The question bank is pretty close to the actual GMAT level and relevant in terms of the tricks, pitfalls and concepts tested.
My Quant is rather weak, so I felt the quant section has a lot of high level questions. Sometimes I felt they were too calculation intensive - somewhat not relevant to actual GMAT. But in terms of prep material, e-GMAT has done a great job in the quant section as well. They start from the basics and cover every type of question you may encounter on the test day.
The prep material is great, but Scholaranium is the real game-changer. The amount of data points and improvement pathways provided are just mind blowing! I highly doubt any other platform offers such a granular level of information. You can figure out the exact topic, exact type of question and the exact difficulty level of the questions you are flattering on.
Overall, I would highly recommend it to anyone who is aiming 700+ and is ready to do 3-4 months of intensive (and well planned) study.

Course e-GMAT Online 360

Location Online

I have experience with two courses:
1. a local online course which included 24 hours of verbal and 24 hours of quant lessons with GMAT coaches (just analyzed the questions from 8 paper tests and got some basic guidance)
2. e-gmat online 360 (1-month full intensive preparation with a dedicated strategy expert)
I am here to review to e-gmat online 360.

As I started practicing for GMAT I joined GMAT club and saw the wide variety of online courses – platforms. I looked for the best reviewed courses and after a while I decided to opt for the local courses because of the option of the coach. At the end of my preparation, I attended some webinars and was amazed by the different approach the e-gmat experts had. I took my first exam, kinda failed, and decided to enroll to e-gmat online course, which was on sale, and try my chances.

I reached out the e-gmat team who offered a consultation call and I realized that I was following a completely different strategy when encountering SC and RC questions. The first step was to study Master Comprehension. This changed my perspective. I had to engage with what I was reading and do strategic pauses in order to comprehend and pre-think.
Taking cementing quizzes was the second step as I had score 690 in my first attempt and wanted to fill the gaps. After the analysis of my progress with the cementing quizzes, DJ reached me in order to create the Personalized Study Plan and smash the GMAT.

Verbal: I completed the whole verbal course and it was an absolute perfection. I implemented what I have learned from the verbal course and my scores skyrocketed.

SC: The meaning approach is above anything else. Solving SC questions with no hesitance and on time, was a key element of success, as I had more time to focus on the other two sections. The approach is being taught extensively through the course and can be mastered quickly.

CR: My level here was good, but I had trouble with the timing. By mastering the Pre-thinking method as presented throughout the course I was able to increase my accuracy from 81% to 93% and dramatically decrease the time taken for every question, especially the hard ones. Every kind type of questions is analyzed thoroughly and all there is a plethora of tricky answer choices. Overall, I think that in CR you get prepared for the worst-case scenario by solving really hard questions, so when you take the real exam CR questions can only benefit you.

RC: This was a game-changer for me. I was struggling in RC and I had to completely change my strategy till then. Skimming the passage and not taking notes was the worst advice I had followed. Instead of utilizing that method, I learned to read, pause strategically, comprehend everything, and then pre-think before going further. That changed everything and my accuracy from 67% climbed at 89%, making me a V40 candidate. Writing down para-summaries and the main idea was my go-to method. During the last week of the preparation, I had so much confidence, that I ended up not taking notes while practicing; I had a great picture of the passage by perfecting the e-gmat RC advices.
I had daily interaction with DJ, who was analyzing my attempts at Scholaranium and my error log, so every day I knew where I had to focus and how!

Quant: Such an analytical and methodical course. I ended up completing the subsections of the quant course that DJ proposed in order to increase my accuracy levels. Every section is really analytical. There is an initial skills assessment and then you master every concept you may encounter in the exam. The best part is that you master every concept in the most methodic and practical way, solving hard questions consistently and correctly within 2 minutes. I do not even mention medium-level questions, because the accuracy there reaches 100% in about 1,5 minutes average time.
The analytics for the Quant course are really important and you get the right amount of info in order to improve. Obviously, the Quant course takes much longer to complete, but it is the perfect pathway for Q49+.

Scholaranium: The Scholaranium platform enables the user to modify his preparation and set the standards of his practice (type of questions, difficulty, time). I found the questions a bit on the hard side (the hard quant questions were really hard!), but since this level of difficulty is not usually encountered in the real exam, you get prepared for the worst-case scenario.

Sigma-X mock tests: I found the test realistic and accurate in terms of scoring. The most valuable aspect is the analysis provided by the platform and the proposed areas of improvement that come with it. The questions were in par with the rest of the course and a bit harder than the real exam.

Overall, it was an absolutely perfect experience for me. I found the course exceptionally structured. The UI was easy to handle and with the interactive guides I felt that I had a live coach on the screen of my computer.

For me, the best part was the interaction with the team. Every question or request were being answered immediately. I have to congratulate everyone who is part of such a valuable tool for GMAT takers, but above all I want to congratulate the dedicated strategy expert I worked with, DJ.
