Best Verbal Study Material for Non-Natives

Course e-GMAT Online Focused

I took the verbal online course 6 months back, and this course has been very beneficial in my preparation. My area of weakness was the verbal section of GMAT. E-GMAT diagnostic tests helped narrow down the sub-topics that needed more attention.
My performance in mocks has also improved. There has been a drastic improvement in my verbal ability especially for Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. I am still polishing my skills in Sentence Correction before I plan to take further mock tests
This ability quizzes are part of the Scholaranium tool offered by e-GMAT which gives the true estimate of your weaknesses by providing detail statistics. Also, for each attempted question you get analytics of the percentage correct attempts and the average time spent for each question. This quite helps in assessing the time we spend on each question based on its difficulty.
I will surely recommend this course to GMAT aspirants.

ManhattanPrep is awesome...i am non-native English speaker and believe me SC and RC were something like nightmares for me. Then i purchased used Manhattanprep book for SC and believe me my score in SC starts improving to a level that now i am ranked in top ten at gmatclub. when i started gmat, i though i wont be able to do it and thus i couldnt score much on my test. but then i bought this book and now i have been scoring 650+. My verbal score has actually put a great impact on my overall score. I, once, wrote to Stacey and she helped me. Moreover, Ron, the guru of gmat, has helped me alot via his free videos (thursday with ron). I will definitely recommend this course to everyone and i am totally confident that this time i can score 700+. Thanks Manhattan

Good Gmat Pre-Course for Non-Native Speakers

I have started preparing for the GMAT sometime around July 2015. At the beginning, I only used the GMAT Official Guide and some other resources (Manhattan GMAT) for my study. Having scored only 640 (Q:48 and V: 29) on my first GMAT test, I was devastated. I realised that in order to improve my score I had to concentrate my effort on the Verbal section.

Through my research at various online forums (Beatthegmat, Gmatclub), I found very positive reviews of eGMAT and decided to give this a try. It was probably one of the best investments I have made so far.

I bought the Verbal Online course which included separate study sections for CR, SC and RC. Having tried a number of other GMAT study resources, I have to say the Verbal Online is the most comprehensive GMAT prep for Verbal in the market. It is even more useful for non-native English speakers like myself.

All the study sections are very well structured. You will learn simple concepts first, followed by practice questions at the end of every module to reinforce your learning. Advance concepts are introduced later on and you can also practice the concept with actual Official questions. This method is very useful to build your knowledge and improve your performance gradually.

The best thing about this course is that it teaches you a consistent and reliable process to tackle SC and CR questions. For example, eGMAT teaches you to focus on the correct meaning of a SC problem and understand the sentence structure before reviewing the answer choices. Regarding CR, you need to understand the assumptions and pre-think the answers for each question. Once you have mastered these techniques, a lot of the tough GMAT questions will be more straightforward.

Since taking the course, I have improved my accuracy rate on in both noticed a significant improvement in my performance in both SC and CR. My accuracy rate is now around 80-85% for CR questions.

I totally recommend this course to anyone looking to improve their GMAT performance.

Hi

I took the verbal online course 6 months back, and I can say that a lot has changed since then regarding my Verbal Prep.

I am yet to take any mocks, but I can say just by the experience that there has been a drastic improvement in my verbal ability especially for Sentence Correction (39% to 91%) and Reading Comprehension (from 48% to 78%). I am still polishing my skills on Critical Reasoning before I plan to take any mock test.

This ability quizzes are part of the Scholaranium tool offered by e-GMAT which gives the true estimate of your weaknesses by providing detail statistics. Also, for each attempted question you get analytics of the percentage correct attempts and the average time spent for each question. This quite helps in assesssing the time we spend on each question based on its difficulty.

I will surely recommend this course to GMAT aspirants.

I took the gmat 3 months back and scored a 730!!(q49 V 40).I subscribed to egmat verbal online and saw the difference..This was my 4th attempt.Myverbal score was not moving beyond V28.However with egmat i managed to score V 40.The methods used by e gmat are just amazing. My initial score was 570.My weakest area was CR,but the pre thinking method on egmat just made it so simple.Eevn SC became very easy since egmat teaches you how to focus on meaning as well as grammar.Everything is so methdical, that it becomes so simple.I strongly recommend e-gmat to all those who wanna boost their score.E gmat is the best course you will ever find for verbal(especially for non natives)

Right approach to tackle GMAT Verbal

I would like to share my experience on the Verbal Live Prep Course of e-GMAT with the aspiring GMAT test takers. e-GMAT's methodical process to attempt the verbal section not only breaks down the question for the test-taker but also helps us identify where we went wrong (this is crucial as later you can work on correcting your approach). Here's my individual take on the different components of the verbal live prep-
1. The lessons
The lessons have been broken down into simple concepts (20 minutes video). You start with real basic day to day examples to understand the subject. The concept is later embedded into your mind by applying it on small length questions. Only after you complete certain pre-requisites you are allowed to move further. (This again ensures that you aren't skipping the process and quickly skimming through the most important part of learning)
2. Scholaranium
In one of the strategy sessions, Rajat mentioned how it was important to test your ability and improve on it in order to improve your score. The Scholaranium tool does exactly that! It helps you identify your weak areas, and gives you ample amount of questions to improve on it. I have used other GMAT learning products but nothing has come close to Scholaranium in helping me identify my weak areas.
3. Live Sessions
These sessions play an important part in your step-2 of your prep. Once you have learned and understood the concept, the live sessions help you tackle 700 - level questions. The tutors break down the questions with such ease that you can't help but have faith in the 3-step process. :)
Another aspect that I really like about the live session is how the tutors are patient to answer every doubt and proceed only after the students have grasped the right understanding. In one of the sessions, we were made to write down the reason for the rejection of the answer choices. Shraddha went through every answer written down and gave us the feedback on whether we rejected the choice for the right reason.

The support staff is very co-operative in answering your questions. I had to unlearn, re-learn and then apply the 3-step process. If you are a non-native speaker, I highly recommend taking the Live Prep Course. The process of studying for GMAT has been fun.

E-GMAT verbal is really sound tool for all who want to improve Verbal part of the GMAT in short period of time. For example, my result is from V32 to V39.

Study materials are well sorted and delivered to users in a very understandable manner. Moreover, I personally enjoy the electronic format of studying instead of having heavy books. Reading the text from the screen puts you in exam format while studying, and that really makes you more prepared for the exam.

E-Gmat is the most innovative tool for the GMAT preparation I have met, and it is perhaps the best solution for affordable price on the market.

Before to enroll on e-GMAT course I tried taking courses offered by universities and studying by myself and I just felt that I was wasting my time and money. The e-GMAT Verbal Online course has been helping me to gain confidence, now I’m feeling myself more confident. I’m going to keep you posting about my score once I take the course next March.
The teachers are really good and the way the course is conducted is a must, they are well organized and are focuses on your success.
For me, this is the best course for non-native speakers if you want to succeed on the verbal section.

I purchased the MGMAT study guides after reading reviews on this forum. I have to say that I was not disappointed. My baseline score was a 610 and after going through the guides and attempting the OG problems, I was able to bump it up to a 690 on test day.

I believe the SC, CR, and number properties books are very helpful. For RC, i disagree with the strategy of taking notes. I found that reading the passage slowly and trying to read for meaning was more beneficial.

As far as the quant resources, they are very good to get you to a reasonable score level. However, I do wish I used their advanced quant guide because I did hit a plateau after making my initial score increase.

It is also important to note that the manhattan cats are not the best indicator of your score or ability level. The manhattan cat quant is much harder than the real thing and the verbal questions do not always represent the official ones.

With that said, the study guides are great resources and I was able to increase my score by 80 points with fairly relaxed, but structured studying.
