Why did you guys write IR? What's the motivation behind it? For instance, did you want to get rid of an essay because nobody finds them useful and didn't want to shorten the test so you filled the space with something like that? Or is it really that important and what you're hoping to test isn't tested at all in the other sections?

Hello, VandyGrad11! That is a great question. GMAC regularly surveys graduate business program to ensure that the GMAT exam is testing the skillsets needed for success in the business classroom. The feedback we got from schools was that the ability to analyze data from multiple sources and formats to solve complex problems is critical to success in a graduate business program. This is very similar to the case studies you will be doing in business school and the types of analysis you will do on the job. We piloted the Integrated Reasoning questions last summer, and students who saw them agreed that the new section tested the same skillsets they expect to use in business school. So that's why we added Integrated Reasoning! As for your next question, we wanted to keep the length of the exam at 3 hours and 30 minutes, plus two 8-minute breaks. In our research of the AWA section, we concluded that one essay was sufficient to measure your ability to think critically and communicate your ideas. The AWA is still an important component of the GMAT exam. Written communication is not going away in business school, or in the business world!

I hope that answers your question. We wish you the best of luck in your studies!

Dear OfficialGMAT

Passed GMAT yesterday. I completely disagree with one of the Quant questions. It involved reasoning from an American-style number division like this:

But neither in your study materials nor in your GMATPrep I did not find it. Most people who studied math using Russian books don't know how to do this. We are doing this way:

Why was this question of your Quant section not adaptive? It puts into a disadvantage test-takers who studied different notation of a number division. And, as I believe, this question was marked as "Easy", it significantly hurt my score

Hi OfficialGMAT

Delighted to see my latest score (710), and I'm all set to apply for R1 this month and the next. While my official score report is not out yet, I'm a little concerned at the blank status and blank actions column for my test as shown below:

Where is the 'Enter ESR Code' button? There was a 'Cancel Score' button that disappeared after 72 hours obviously. How much longer until these are updated? What if I wanted to access an ESR for this score?

Until OfficialGMAT gets back to you:

1. Congrats on the 710!
2. A score can be reported after the official score report is generated. Give it a few more days (I'd wait till the 10th of this month before becoming really concerned).
3. The link for the ESR should have become available within 24 hours of your exam. This is definitely a problem you can reach out to their customer service for, and I recommend that you do, even if you end up not purchasing an ESR.

You should be getting your official score report anytime now, so that really shouldn't be a problem. Reach out to them on Friday (or Thursday, as they're closed on the weekend). However, in the past, even when there has been a problem at Pearson's end, their customer service has refused to recognize that there could be a problem before all 20 days (the maximum) have passed. Get them to look into the ESR issue if they say the same thing to you.

All the best for your applications!

Hi OfficialGMAT

I completed GMAT Practice Exam 1 from my Chrome browser on Sunday afternoon. When I tried to click "continue" after finishing my last section (AWA), a message appeared that read "Please wait...We are evaluating your question." I cannot get past this message to see my score. I have tried closing the practice exam and reopening it with no luck. The software recognizes that I have finished all sections. I even tried downloading the GMAT software but I get an error message that says it cannot connect to the GMAC sever. Nothing is wrong with my internet connection.

I need to see my practice exam scores as soon as possible.

I have tried calling the GMATPrep phone line since last Monday morning but have not heard back. No one picks up when I call during business hours. The voicemail states that I should hear back within one business day and this is not the case here. I have also emailed them but no one has responded. Is there any way that you can help me get a response from the GMATPrep office so I can retrieve my practice exam scores? It would be useless for me to even attempt taking another test because the same frozen screen situation could happen. I do not want to waste another 3+ hours of my time if I cannot see my scores.

I understand that GMATPrep is separate from the main GMAT offices but I really need help getting a hold of them. It seems impossible to get a response, which is incredibly irresponsible of a software company responsible for troubleshooting. This has unfortunately been a terrible user experience.

I sent you a direct message with my account information and contact information.

Dear OfficialGMAT

When a candidate sends a query/complaint on GMATcandidateservicesAPAC@pearson.com, how soon can he expect a response? The website mentions up to 48 hours but its been a week... no acknowledgement mail has been sent and no response either :(

Thank you.

Respected GMAT team,
I have scheduled my GMAT on 12th September as there was no slots earlier to that. However now, the slots have opened up and I wanted to take the exam as early as possible. Now a slot for 11th has opened up. I'm worried that if I reschedule my exam to 11th, another slot might open up earlier than 11th. Please shed some light as to how these slots open up.

Hi GMAC reps!

Was taking GMAT Practice Test 3 online. Completed Quant and Verbal. Click Next to go to IR and get "loading questions failed" error.

Log out, log back in, try again, no success.

Try other browsers, no success.

I am a little frustrated as this was my second last practice test to refine time management and weaknesses and I couldn't even finish it to get a score estimate.

Any advice how to deal with this issue? would really like to complete the test and find out how I did.

I would reset and retake but I would see a lot of questions I've seen before and it would certainly skew the results. :(

I have already emailed GMAC tech support but no response yet. It would be great if you could somehow escalate to the dev team for resolution.

thanks

This is an operational issue, and I doubt whether Pearson/GMAC customer support will be willing or able to provide you any details on how they manage capacity at their testing centers.

If I were you, I'd wait a bit to see whether any new slots open up. At the end of the day, however, it will come down to how time-critical whatever is driving your decision to reschedule is. You are looking to move your test date forward by just one day. That probably means that you think it's important to take the exam early. As long as it's not for something like nerves and is for something really important, I suggest you commit to the (possible) extra expense involved and go ahead with the reschedule. Reschedule again if more slots open up.

You should call them, if you haven't already done so. That's the best way to make them aware of such a problem.

Also, check your mba.com account here and check what it says under "STATUS".
