Just realized the amazing ascent of Rice MBA program in the US News ranking over the past few years.
42 (in 2010) to 34 (in 2011) and now a 25th place in the latest ranking (in 2012).

Considering that Rice is generally one of the top universities in the US overall, not too surprising.

There are a bunch of ties. How many #25 schools are there? Wow!

Surprised that MIT fell into a 3 way tie for 4th place with K and B. W still can't crack the H & S stronghold. interesting.

Thanks for sharing, but it's a little misleading how you list the ranks. For schools that are tied on the US News rankings, US news shows them in alphabetical order, whearas you rank them differently. For example Kellogg and Booth are not 5 and 6 but are tied at 4 with MIT. Similarly, you left off 4 schools that are tied with Ohio State at 25.

Same as Stanford and Harvard..., tied at 1.

I have updated this post to include an updated version of Woggy987's spreadsheet from below with the top 50 schools from US News for 2013 with all the data.

The differences between b-schools are so small, any shift is pretty much statistical variation. The heavy emphasis on reputation ranking, pretty much ensure a lock up top, where there’s the most visibility.

I wonder how many people make school choices based on these insignificant differences. ::sigh::

Is it possible to get those stats for the next 25 schools at all? I would like the stats for schools in the 26-50 range. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for doing this, I wasn't sure if we could post spreadsheets, relatively new to the forum. I saw the new top 25 was already posted, but without the numbers behind it which I think is the most interesting part. Glad to see the employment numbers, salaries and most importantly, the admissions rates, all going up!

The spreadsheet in my above post has been updated to include the 26-50 schools as well.

As mentioned before, clearly US News has quite a few ties, and they just happen to be around certain points in the rankings. They force more schools into "top" groups by having ties at the top of ranges. There are 2 #1 schools, 6 top 5 schools, and worst, 29 schools that can claim the "top 25" ranking. I think its clear they are bowing to pressure from the schools, and are giving them some help for their marketing materials. A cop out at best, and seriously hurts their credibility.

Indeed. It reminds a friend of mine that used to say that he went to HBS just to do not have to spend the rest of his life explaining why he didn't go to Harvard for his MBA.

It says "Average Starting Salary and Bonus" in the grid, and does not define it further as far as I can see. My understanding, at least with the other salary data from some other rankings (the economist I believe), is that the figure includes base salary and bonus, but not stock options.
