Q: √2209?

a 37
b 41
c 45
d 47
e 53

Since the units digit is 9, the Square root of the number must end in 3 or 7

Check only option (D) and (E)

47^2 = (40+7)^2 => 1600 + xxxxx

53^2 = (50+3)^2 => 2500 + xxxxx

Hence, the number must be 43, Answer must be (D)

We need a number that, when multiplied by itself, equals 2209.

Thus, the number must have a units digit of 3 or 7. So, we are left with 37, 47, or 53.

Since 40^2 = 1600, we see that 37 is too small.

Since 50^2 = 2500, we see that 53 is too large.

Thus, the correct answer is 47.
