Hi HWSSBC,
B-schools don’t follow cutoffs either for overall or sectional (Quant and Verbal) scores. However, it’s always good to have the overall score around the median score of the target school (higher the better, but incremental value goes down beyond the average) with a balanced split between the two components. Moreover, they typically
attach bit more importance to Quant (than Verbal).
Now, they also look at corroborating evidences for Quant and Verbal to assess your competency in them. So, for example, if you scored 45 in Quant, but if you’ve excellent grades in math courses in undergrad and/ or if you’ve an engineering degree, then 45 isn’t bad. The assessment is more holistic than just one data point.
