A and B are integers, is (0.5)AB > 1 ?

(1) A is positive integer and B is negative integer.
(2) A and B are two consecutive integers.

Given (0.5)AB > 1

Then AB > 2 ?

Stat 1: A is positive integer and B is negative integer. Whatever the value of A be , -ve value of B will make < 2...Insufficient.

Stat 2 : A and B are two consecutive integers.

if A = 3 and B = 3 then AB > 2.
if A = -1 and B = -2 then AB > 2.
if A = 0 and B = 1 then AB < 2.... Insufficient.

Stat 1 + Stat 2 : Since AB are consecutive from 2 and B is -ve from 1 then A can be 0 or -ve value ( -1,0 ) < 2, if it ( -3, -2) > 2... different cases... Insufficient.

IMO E is correct answer.

OA please...will correct if I missed anything.

If you are saying "Stat 1: A is positive integer and B is negative integer. Whatever the value of A be , -ve value of B will make < 2" , then it means we have a definite answer to this question,i.e. NO. Hence it is sufficient.

A and B are integers, is (0.5)AB > 1 ?

I don't understand this one, Bunuel, may I have some assistance?

Answer below is not the OA

\(AB > 2\)

(1) A is positive integer and B is negative integer.

\(AB < 0\), sufficient.

(2) A and B are two consecutive integers.

A = 2, B = 3, AB > 2
A = 1, B = 0, AB < 2

not sufficient.

(A) statement 1 alone is sufficient, but statement 2 alone is not sufficient to answer the question
