Draw the given information on graph we would end up getting a relation : 9^2+ 12^2= sq rt 225= 15 option D

once you draw the route . you will notice that when you join the starting point and the ending point of the boat it turns out to me the hypotenuse of a larger right angled triangle whose legs are 12 km (height ) and 9 km (base) . so using Pythagorean theorem the distance needed would be 15 kms .

Could you please share the graph/picture? Mine is coming out to be two triangles, kind of a rhombus.
