I think E. We need distances between A B or C D to calculate distance between BC.

1) Gives AB + BC = 7 , Insufficient 2) Gives BC + CD = 9, Insufficient
If we consider both (1) and (2) Still BC cannot be determined

1/ AB + BC = 7 => cannot decide how much is BC => insuff => excl A and D
2/ BC + CD = 9 => cannot decide how much is BC => insuff => excl B
1 and 2 together => Cannot decide how much is BC => E
Please kudo if it helps. Thanks.
