Let the Regular price of the dyer = X
Price of dryer after 15% reduction = 0.85 * X = $203.15
X = 203.15/0.85 = $ 239
Answer is B. $239
Price of dryer after 15% reduction = 0.85 * X = $203.15

A clothes dryer has a sale price of $203.15 after a 15% reduction. What is the regular price of the dryer?

Because the full price was reduced by 15%, the reduced price is 85%, or 0.85, of the full price. We can let the original price of the dryer equal x and create the following equation:
0.85x = 203.15
x = 203.15/0.85 = 20315/85 = 239
Answer: B
