b) who follows--> Pronoun error; it is the study that follows not the economists, also if economists is being referred to then follow should be used. In any case b is out
c) including their parental conditions, their childhood neighborhoods, and the universities they attended--> Modifier error; wrongly modifying the economists
d) same error as in b;
had shown is wrong--> no reason to change the tense
e)modifier/meaning issue following is wrongly modifying economists.
A is the obvious choice
