Total area of the box is 6*4 = 24
If x+y <4, then point (x,y) will lie below the straight line connecting (0,4) and (4,0). For example, you can see that (3,1), (2,2), (1,3) all lie on this line. Of course there will be an infinite amount of points between these that meet the constraints, considering decimals. This line connecting (0,4) and (4,) will form a triangle with area (4*4)/2 = 8.

Therefore probability is 8/24 = 1/3
