Academicians tend to praise research that agrees with their own beliefs, and it is
rare for kindness to be shown
to contrary theories
(A) beliefs, and it is rare for kindness to be shown
(B) beliefs, with a rare kindness shown
(C) beliefs, and rarely show kindness
(D) beliefs, they are rarely kind
(E) beliefs, but they show rare kindness


in here the meaning of the sentence need to be checked for correct answer.

the word rare in the phrase "beliefs, and it is rare for kindness to be shown" is actually emphasising show and not kindness.

so while analyzing the options you will notice the word "rare" in most of the options emphasize on kindness rather than Show which is wrong.

(A) beliefs, and it is rare for kindness to be shown (Wrong)
(B) beliefs, with a rare kindness shown (Wrong)
(C) beliefs, and rarely show kindness (Correct)
(D) beliefs, they are rarely kind (Wrong)
(E) beliefs, but they show rare kindness(Wrong)
