Hi, I was admitted in Early action. Is there a timeline for when we have to either accept or decline the offer? Is this the same as the deposit timeline (November 28th?)

It says so for me on the admission letter - I have taken the Binding Track though. So there might be a difference

Great idea!
A few tips and completely unsolicited advice to make your call more productive 😇😂

Keep in mind that not a single business school student will ever call their school bad or openly speak badly about it. many reasons for this, but don’t expect people to be open to giving any of the bad things.

There are bad things. Even Harvard has bad things while people will not be openly talking about them, they will give you hints and will try to warn you about certain aspects of the school. Most of them may have to do around recruiting. So things that people talk about not very excitedly or downplay is something for you to do into. If you ask, specific questions, they will tell you the truth. it is your responsibility however to ask specific questions. Sometimes you may have to ask them questions that are not vague. For example, if you ask, how is career services? They will probably tell you it’s good. That’s an easy and generic answer. At the same time, if you ask something more specific such as are you getting a lot of employers on campus or how many employers are you getting on campus, it’s career services doing everything they can? How hard or easy is it to get a job? Do you have a job?

Ask about how many career officers are there and how long it takes to see one. Sometimes you have to book an appointment weeks in advance if there are 200 students, and there are four career services. People let means each one of them serves 50 folks and they only work about 36 hours a week and there’s no school on Friday so That’s 28 hrs. Plus they need to have meetings and downtime and this and that so they can probably realistically see about 15 people per week tops. that means their cycle is three weeks.

Keep in mind of the students are not going to hide anything, but they just will not bring out all the dirt into the open right away. There are many reasons for this as I mentioned, one of them is that they don’t want you to go back to admissions and say that hey I talked to Joe and he said that your recruiting sucks. Didn’t want to have a chat with the dean about recruiting, similarly they are a part of the family now so they don’t wanna call their sister ugly either and finally if they start complaining it almost sounds like they’re regretting it and they’re not. The reality is that there will be bumps, problems, and issues in any business school you go to. You have some really dumb professors and really annoying classmates. More likely than not, the career services people will not have enough time to see everyone at the same time.

Thanks bb for the heads up. Also I know that rankings aren’t the reliable source and everyone here have reached out to alumni, current students and adcoms... But you personally have been in contact with many schools and people, so what’s your honest opinion of Darden compared to T15 or T20?
