Hello All

My name is Kunwardeep Singh (KD). I am 29 years old and completed my B.Tech in 2009. Since then I have been working and lately at strategic positions as well. I want to take gmat this year by August/September. Likewise, if i get admitted, I would be going school in Sept. 2018. At that time i will be 31 and would have a work experience of more than 9 yrs (110 months). Is it an acceptable work ex by top 15 B Schools. If yes, what minimum GMAT score should i look at to get through. Waiting for some help. Thanks

Kunwardeep...

Don't think you are out of range. Avg age for any b-school is 28/29 and this is the age of every applicant at the time of submitting his/her application. You are in correct avg age. From the above details, I can understand that you have 7 years of work-exp and this also comes under avg work exp.

Only thing is that you need to concentrate is that WHY YOU WANT TO DO MBA NOW... A good GMAT score + good essays will help to get into your dream school.

Any age person can apply to b-school but only thing is that the person must answer the above question wisely and if school admin is fine with that then the person is eligible.

Hope this info boosts you...

Hi Director..
Thanks for your message... bt i am now 29.. by the time i get to a bschool in sept 2018.. i will be 31.. with work ex of 9 years... is it still workable???

If your reasons for MBA are strong trust me you are still in possible candidate list. No one will be able to give u 100% surety based on information which u gave, u know who is the best judge?, its u and only u. Whatever answers ur getting from others will jot matter until u have a compelling reason. So think about it.

Regards

Never too old to do MBA. The average age of many B-schools is 28-30. This means that there are many candidates who are over 30 years old applied to MBA.

Also, MBA program focus on sharping leadership skill. Hence, the more experience you have, the better you will learn from MBA. In other hand, if you have much experience, then it is expected that you will benefit more from MBA. Thus, why shouldn't you apply for MBA?

Hi there,

Great question - I just chatted with a client about this topic last week, who is has 11 years of work experience. Schools list out the average number of years experience for top programs - and it usually puts people in the under 30 range. However, it's definitely not impossible! I think that business schools want to see WHY you want to attain an MBA - and why now? Most people in their 30s have established careers and it may now make sense career-wise and financially to invest two years in an MBA program - so in addition to making sure that all aspects of your application are strong (GMAT, GPA, leadership), creating a compelling story will explain why this is a right move for you, and why you are a fit with the programs you are applying to.

Let me know if you want to discuss further, or want to take advantage of our free 30-minute consult.
