An expense reduction consulting company needs to analyze tips to cut cost in a company. To help in doing this, they need the fraction of R & D expenditure that’s funded through the non-chain market. The charts above show the distribution of the profits to different categories of expenses of Robert’s shoe making company. What’s the fraction as calculated by the consulting company, assuming the calculations it did are correct?
(1) Dossier has the true information: R & D in the chain account chart represents 4,22,051 dollars.
(2) Dossier has the true information: R & D in the non-chain account chart represents 3,33,235 dollars.

Both the charts show distribution of profits, but to get R and D expenditure as a fraction of the total expenditure of non-chain account we need distribution of Expenditure NOT profit.
(1) Dossier has the true information: R & D in the chain account chart represents 4,22,051 dollars. We have the PROFIT distribution of chain account NOT expenditure distribution of non- chain account. Hence we cannot get R& D expenditure / Total Expenditure of non chain account INSUFF.
(2) Dossier has the true information: R & D in the non-chain account chart represents 3,33,235 dollars.
We have the PROFIT distribution NOT expenditure distribution of non-chain account . Hence we cannot get R& D expenditure / Total Expenditure . INSUFF.
