Correct, the book had A. as for question 1, but it must be a typo.

Anyone use an easy equation for the second question?

R

Let t be the time taken by 10 men

Let the work required be W

Then W/6-W/10=4 which gives W=60

Substituting in W/10=t we get t=6

for question 1, why is A a typo? can someone please help me? What I did was:

the first one does 2/3 in 4 days, which means she does 1/6 in 1 day, right? And the second person works twice as fast, which means she does 1/6*2 in 1 day, which = 1/3.

so if 1/3 of the job is left, it will take the second person 1 day to finish the job. or A.

so why is it C, what did I do wrong?

Thanks!

I think we all read the question wrong. The question asks how long will it take the 2nd person to finish the job, not how long does the 2nd person take to do the job.

Thanks

I go with 1) A and 2) B
But 1)'s wording is totally misleading .. Instead it should have been

"Ann completed 2/3 of a job in 4 days. How long does it take Kena, who works twice as fast, to finish the job? "
