Good evening! I am planning on becoming a Columbia Reapplicant for the Fall 2017 regular decision cycle. My stats are as follows:
Latina Female
Gre Score: 330 (verbal: 160, Quantitative, 170)
Undergraduate GPA: 3.6 (Nuclear Physics)
Graduate GPA: 3.5 (Biochemistry)
Experience: about 1 year full time work experience
I applied April 2016, on the last day and was rejected. My essays were horrible and I had no clear sense of direction. However, now that I have developed myself, I was thinking of not only visiting the campus (im from out of town) with the next two weeks, but also meeting with a professor (if possible) and spend no more than a few minutes discussing the course topics that pertain to my scientific field. I was also planning on meeting with an admissions counsel on that same day in in order to discuss my unique background into going into real estate so that I may showcase leadership skills. I feel as f I have strengthened myself but im not sure if being rejected after applying so so late (with a not so good application) has hurt my chances of reapplying. Also, is visiting a professor overkill? Should I wait another year to apply?
thanks!
