I am applying for round 2 applications and initially thought that a late December GMAT would be ok, but after reading about how things may pan out on test day I am being encouraged to take an earlier test in November to get an idea.

Pros:

-I would have over 100 hours of Magoosh GMAT prep under my belt (including 8 days I'm taking off work in early October for studying- a sub-pro is that the Magoosh score guarantee would be applicable ha

-I'll be able to decide if the December GMAT is necessary- I'll still lose $170 since they only provide an $80 refund, but I would be able to focus on applications

-I'll have a true GMAT baseline

Cons: -Another $250

Any thoughts?

540 via an ice cold Kaplan- Q31 V33 700+ is the target

When I took the Kaplan test I had not taken a standardized test in over 10 years- I'm a week into studying.

I'm using the Magoosh 3 month study plan, but with my 8 days off in early October anticipate being able to cross the 100 hour minimum study time easily and will devote the final 3 weeks to brushing up on weak areas.

Hi QuestioningMeaning,

I would neither recommend you to cancel the test nor take a new date in November already.
If am not wrong, you could do take a date in November at a time later also.
You should take a date whenever you feel ready for the test.

Just start your preparation and prepare as per plan. During this period, whenever you
feel ready, book the earliest available slot(in November) and take the test.

You could cancel the test(up to 7 days before the date of your test)
and you can still get the 70$ refund.

It is a good thing that you have taken a Kaplan test already, but I recommend you
to take another test(this time from GMATPrep) about a month into your preparation
to gauge your level at that time and get back to the experts on the forum to help
you with a understanding of what you should do.

Try and utilize the forum in the best possible way with your preparation!

Hope that helps you!
