Why is the answer to the second question 26.9? Also, where is it mentioned that the class agent writing the letter is from class of '02?

Why 26.9??

Aid per student = 30000
Number of students given financial aid = 55% of 1600 = 88
Amount = 30000*88 = 26,400,000 or 26.40 million
Now, 55% could be close to 56% ans answer would go up a bit slightly to 26.9 million.
Only 26.9 is close to 26.4.

Why class '02??

There is a mention of the batch approaching start of 10th year of anniversary. Although nothing more concrete is given, we can take a clue from that.

As we approach the 10th anniversary of our college graduation, I am re [#permalink]
Not charging higher tuition

While other institutions, in order to combat these costs, have expanded their student classes so that they could increase their overall tuition revenues, our alma mater has resisted such student growth, choosing instead to safeguard its preciously low student-to-faculty ratio

Sajjad1994 shouldn't the answer be yes here? As it is mentioned that this institution did not increase tuition like others did.

This is unclear. All you know is that “our alma mater has resisted such student growth.” You don’t know whether it has or has not increased its tuition.

1. For each of the following statements, select Yes if the statement is reasonably inferable from the information provided. Otherwise, select No.

If in 2011 the average financial aid package is the same as it was in 2010, the class of ’02 will fund a full scholarship if half the members of the class contribute at least $187.50 on average. => Yes

Tab 2: Avg package in 2011 = in 2010 = 30k
Total amount contributed by half of the class contributing $187.5 avg: 187.5 * 320 * 0.5 = 30K

The total amount that the class of ’02 contributed to the Annual Fund in 2010 would have been sufficient to fund one full scholarship in 2000. => Yes

Total amount contributed by Class 02: \(\frac{2}{3}\) * 30k = 20k
A package in 2000: 20k

165 of the members of the class of ’02 contributed to the Alumni Fund in 2010. => No
Number of members of Class 02 contributed: 320 * 0.46 = 147

2. Approximately what was the total amount of financial aid that the College offered to its students in 2010? [26.9 million]

1 Package in 2010: 30k
Enrolment in 2010: 1600
% students receving Financial aid: 58%

30k * 56% * 1600 = 26.9M

3. For each of the following statements, select Yes if it can be inferred from the given information that the College has chosen to support its student body by the method described in the statement. Otherwise, select No.

Increasing its average financial aid package each year over the past 25 years => Yes
Tab 1: Furthermore, the College has increased its average financial aid package every year over the past 25 years

Not charging higher tuition => No
Not mentioned any where

Maintaining a low student-to-faculty ratio => Yes
Tab 1: our alma mater has resisted such student growth, choosing instead to safeguard its preciously low student-to-faculty ratio—which is a great benefit for students
