Booth's recent blog entry gives me an impression that the adcom strongly "encourages" candidates to visit campus for the interview.

I am probably reading too much into this, but can any Booth students/admits share if there is any real edge for candidates that choose on-campus interviews. I am based in Asia.

#pointless worrying without interview invite
They strongly encourage on campus interviews for people who have never been to campus. However, it's not for Booth's benefit it is for yours. The ad com is very big on fit and they think that the evaluation of that factor goes both ways. You need to determine if Booth is the right fit for you and the best way to do that is to visit the campus. The encouragement to interview on campus is so you can take advantage of the campus visit program while you're there (info session with member of ad com, Q&A with current students, building tour, lunch with students, class visit). Do what works best for you. On campus and off campus interviews are evaluated equally.

I am thinking of applying R3, yet I am wondering whether chances are close to zero for the final stage.

What do you guys suggest? Is it as hard as I expect it to be?

R3 is always a crap shoot. However, give us some more info about your background and you would get more reasonable answers.

You're right! Here it is a quick background:

- Currently on active duty in the military, as a naval officer. Multiple overseas deployments and international activities.
- Upon enrolling (Fall 2014) I would be 30, with approximately 6.5 years of work experience since graduating from the Naval Academy (class of 2008).
- My academic background consists of a B.Sc. and a M.Sc., both in Naval and Maritime Sciences. GPA of 110/110, cum laude (both), from an Italian top-3 university.
- GMAT: 750 (Q:48, V:45; AWA:4.5);
- TOEFL (110).
- Some extra-curricular activities, yet not extremely involving in terms of time (due to work commitments);
- S/T and L/T goals: changing career from the military to the management consulting (focusing on the aerospace & defense industry).

FROM Booth Admissions Blog: See SBSP in Action

When I meet undergraduates and early career professionals on the road, I’m often asked just who does the Summer Business Scholar Program at Chicago Booth; how old are they? What do they study? What do they gain from spending three weeks in Chicago to learn accounting, finance and marketing?

The answer, like many at Booth, is not a “one fits all” explanation. The truth is that SBSP participants look to the program for different reasons. Some choose to enhance their resume prior to formal internship recruiting during their junior or senior year, and utilize the “soft skills” they gain to their advantage when networking and making new contacts. Others are merely curious about business concepts, and desire the opportunity to see how business works and determine whether they can incorporate those learnings into their own unique goals and passions. Students who are further along in the process of evaluating what their 5-10 year plan is come looking for deeper insights into what an MBA Program consists of, and more specifically, what that’s like at Booth.

We’ve created alumni profiles in an effort to show who our SBSP alumni are. We’ve highlighted their personal stories, as well as written about the SBSP 2013 program in detail. But now we’re taking that one step further, and invite you to see our scholars in action and hear them describe what their SBSP experience was like in our new video.

We hope this helps you get to know the program better and possibly “see” yourself in their shoes next summer.

Best,

Meghan

Round 3 is tough, but you'll have a legit shot with your stats and unique background. Execution of your app needs to be very tight and flawless tho.

Good luck to you and to everybody in the r2 pool!

Agree with this. You have a solid background, make sure your app is flawless.

Having said that, if I were you I'd not get that feeling that I'm definitely going to get in somewhere. Something that you could have said if you applied earlier/next year.

At this point, just keep your head down and look to execute well.

Best of luck!

Hello everyone. I accessed my application today and my GMAT and TOEFL report are still with the "awaiting" status. Does anyone has contacted the admissions team regarding this problem? what do they said about it? Thank you and good luck tomorrow!

Don't worry about it - they simply haven't matched your official score. Whatever score you put on your app will suffice. i was admitted in r1 and it still says "awaiting" on my application portal.

This week long invite process seems so tedious. Its like being on death row for five days. INSEAD was just like this, and after anxiously checking my inbox for 5 days, I got dinged at 7 pm on a Friday evening. Would hate for that to happen now.

Lets hope this wait is worth it :)

Is it a steady stream of invites, or are a majority of people notified on Monday?
