The chances are low for us. Many people of 21J Class postponed their entry for January 21. The January class is almost full.

Any source for this information? INSEAD isn't clarifying much on this. But I honestly do foresee this considering an October vs. January start option, I would certainly defer.

Found this interesting piece online. Still doesn't specify the numbers, but going by the article INSEAD does seem to have taken a liberal stand on deferrals and I absolutely respect that! Some communication should've been sent out though, to prospective or current applicants.

I know this because I have a friend who was accepted for intake Sept 20 and he postponed it. Moreover, he told me the D21 class has 370 people accepted and confirmed.

370 people out of 500 in R1!

Woah! That's huge. If thats the case INSEAD should have openly shared this information and clearly stated how R2 applications will be evaluated given the new information. For over represented nationalities, it would practically be a straight rejection if that's the case.

Sorry but I would not trust your numbers unless shared by INSEAD directly, seems unrealistic, even if say, 100 people, deferred from 21J to 21D (seems quite unlikely), still 270 people got selected in R1?¿? We are talking about INSEAD, with 3 large (maybe decreasing, but not so much) rounds and a small 4th one, simple math logic does not add.

The second and stronger point is that it is your first message since you registered almost two years ago, maybe you are right but being your first message ever it is unlikely.

There is also the possibility that 21D batch is extremely large because of Covid delays, but I certainly do not see that from what US programs have been sharing recently regarding their 22' classes.

Regards,
Pablo

Spoke to the consultant I'm working. Apparently, the dean had a webinar with alums (not sure how true) and indicated about 150 deferrals from September to Jan intake. Also shared was the fact that in R2 this year, INSEAD has recieved their highest ever applications in history.

Sharing as recieved, not sure on how true these numbers are. A R1 admit for 21D confirmed that the https://gmatclub.com/chat group for admits has about 290 and doesn't include all admits.

150 deferrals in total may be, but seems too large (we are talking of 30% of the class), all those into the next period just 4 months after?¿? Only visa-related ones may be and even those would not have such a flexibility to do so.
Having 70-80% of the class full in R1 means leaving out good candidates and getting in less worthy ones, and R1 had no surge as R2 may have had, remember that GMAT was not waived, and only China was taking Covid for real at that time.

I'm not saying that your assumptions are not true but the numbers seem unreal at least from my consulting mindset and logic check.

I would wait for more official information before sharing anything.

Pablo

I agree Pablo. Probably 150 deferrals overall across 21D and 22J.

I do hope though that INSEAD shares some official information on this subject. It wouldn't really be fair otherwise.

I haven't received interview invite, neither have I received the scholarship email (I indicated that I would be applying for a scholarship). Was the latter sent by the respective AOs, or from a different address?

So I would like to say this to all my friends here
Even if 200 people differ the class strength will be increased
Remember we all pay 100 K if we get selected and contribute to the school. So they need students as well to sustain and upgrade and innovate !
What we give to the school is brain power and what school gives in return is a career we all desire ! It is both sides scratching back and corona might have caused deferrals but every school will make arrangements to fix this situation

Also remember that this year there are no rankings so schools will be innovating and experimenting !
This was my two cents !

I do agree that schools have the benefit of not having rankings, but also batch size is limited by the school resources, they may have some leeway but the experience and level cannot be compromised to keep the numbers. This may be another Corona impact on some of us, the school surely will try to be fair but the world is not fair.

I do believe that they will try to accommodate the deferrals in multiple batches if possible, and also they will be kind with the current applicants despite the already large batch number, so far the school has not said anything publicly about it, but I believe they soon will. We have all been asking about the 21J deferrals and how that will impact 21D.

We can just do our best and wait for news, so far we are not sure of the actual numbers we are playing with.

Regards,
Pablo

I did get a scholarship email earlier today. I come from an under represented region, so maybe they got those invites out of the way before getting to the rest that might take a bit longer. Hang in there guys!
