I went to my interview yesterday, it was weird and my interviewer was king and very inquisitive.

The questions were pretty standard but the interviewr elaborated more questions based on my answers.

1) Tel me about yourself.
2) Why an MBA?
3) Why Booth?
4) 3 Streghths.
5) My favorite City
6) A time I failed

And a lot of questions about my Proffessional experience.

FROM The Booth Experience: New Year, New State of Mind, NVC
2016 is here, and New Year’s resolutions are in full swing. When the New Year started, millions around the world awoke with renewed hopes and plans, strengthened commitment to goals old and new. The New Year means different things to different individuals such as working out more, eating more organic food, and reading more books. … Continue reading New Year, New State of Mind, NVC →

Hi guys, I would greatly appreciate if any of you could kindly pls share info about phone interviews. I have one coming up next Insight onto the following would be greatly appreciated:

- would it be fair to say that the interview acceptance rates for the phone interviews be lower than the alumni? I am assuming this since there is a lack of physical connection?

- Since the adcom committee is most likely to be conducting the phone interviews, how do u think these interviews would be different from the alumni ones? Do you think theyd focus more on "certain" questions?

Thanks !

Booth is my top choice, and I'm over the moon that i got an interview from them.

For those who have already been accepted: After the interview, how many days did it take for you to hear the acceptance response?

Hi guys,

I have a couple of questions

1. Is it okay if I update my resume a bit for the blind interview from the one that I submitted along with the applications or are we supposed to take the very same resume for the blind resume?

2. In what detail do the interviewers ad adcom cross-check the information between application and interview? say, in the short term goals if I have mentioned 'Big Four' as my target companies but while interview I share my post MBA interest as more broad - strategy consulting (which both Big 4 and MBB do), will that be a red flag for adcom? in what detail do interviewers share detail with the adcom?

Can anyone share their ideas or suggestions on the above?

Thanks a lot

Booth traditionally releases all admit calls a day before the deadline and all final rejections and WLs on the deadline day. You wont hear anything back until 16th March at the earliest.

Interesting questions. Based on my interview experiences, you should take the same resume as the one you had submitted. What if the interviewer shares your resume with the adcoms? Dont take that risk! This approach also borders on unethical as Booth does not encourage sending information after application submission. So you changing your resume for the interview can be interpreted as such.

As for #2, your interviewer will be providing a detailed feedback to the adcoms after your interview with what your responses were to the questions asked. Again, no one exactly know what goes into a feedback form but it is fine to talk about your career goals in "broader" sense than what you mentioned in your application.
Do note that the more you talk with specificity about your ST and LT goals, the better it will be for you during the interview. You dont want to end up sounding that you have not done your research. You can start by talking about the big 4 but also mention that you have done your research and it has led you to believe that MBB will also be providing the same platforms etc. There is nothing wrong in this approach.

Good luck with your interview.

Hey there, i pretty much had the same questions at my interview today. I think it went really well, and i was able to answer all questions without hesitation. I guess i like talking in general and my job has me interact with all kinds of people at all times. My wive is having her tomorrow, and i hope it goes just as well.
I'm ready to be done with this business school application season and get business with classes.
We'll maybe seeing you on campus in a few months :-)

I have my interview over phone coming up. I mailed the interviewer asking for the date and time. Still no reply. :(
A phone interview really puts you at a disadvantage I feel. Anybody have experience with a phone interview?

I had my interview off-campus at a coffee shop. My interviewer (alumnus) was very nice and asked lots of questions. Our conversation seemed to generally revolve around understanding my fit at Chicago Booth.

Some of the questions asked:

Tell me about yourself.
Why MBA?
Why now?
Why Chicago Booth?
What concentrations/classes are you interested in taking? What professors are you interested in?
What are your thoughts on leadership and management? How do you differentiate the two?

Many follow-up questions and tangents within those questions as the interviewer seem truly interested in the conversation. After the interview, I am even more interested in Chicago Booth. Hopefully all goes well!

Good luck to everyone else with interviews!
