sent this over email and received confirmation that the application is complete and has been sent to the reviewing team, and that I should check the portal for updates. However, status on the portal still reads incomplete.

It takes a few days for them to review your materials and update the status on the portal. I was asked to send a GMAT report with my name on it. I sent it on mail and it took them around 3-4 days to review it and change my status from Incomplete to Under Review.
