Does anyone know what percentage of those interviewed Duke admits?

According to gmatcat, 81% of applicants are interviewed and 36% of applicants are accepted.

I just finished with my interview. I interviewed with a 2nd year student. He was super-friendly. The whole interaction took about an hour, although I anticipated 45min per the email. The questions were pretty much the 'traditional' questions. Why MBA, Why Fuqua, What do you bring to the MBA class? What extra-curricula activities will you pursue whiles in Fuqua, Two strengths and weaknesses. What courses in the program will be helpful for me. At the end of the questions, he gave me the chance to ask him questions and I got some very good insight from his answers.

I hope the above helps.

Good luck to anyone interviewing in the coming days.

I noticed on the interview nvitation it said attire was business casual, which surprised me.

I'm going to err on the professional side of biz-casual, just wondering what everyone else was planning on wearing?

Already had my on-campus interview during the open period. Wear a suit without a tie.

FROM Fuqua Current Student Blogs: Working in Teams Makes Anything Possible
“I can’t do it,” I thought.

I looked at how the rest of my team, about 12 people, headed up the ladders in pairs and started walking on the high ropes course—which to me seemed like only a very wobbly string of a material. It did not give me confidence! I got anxious just by looking at how their bodies moved in the air, shaking due to the lack of stability. I felt my pulse rushing, and I confess that the “fight or flight response” nearly made me run away!

I hate heights—I’m really terrified of them. I cannot even walk up a ladder without fearing that I will fall and die. Yes, I’m exaggerating a bit, but that is what fear does to you right? You lose perspective and you cannot think straight.

I had to confront this fear head on during Team Challenge Day—one of the many team building activities for first-year students during orientation at Fuqua.

Confronting My Fear of Heights
Off they went, pair after pair, until only four of us were left. Before my turn, one of my teammates—who I think had more fear than I did—had managed to get up there and walk on the rope. She was so scared, that I couldn’t help but scream “one step at a time, one step at a time.”  After some long minutes of suffering, she made it! That gave me the strength to try.

As I approached the ladder (after getting the harness on) my foot cramped! Fear was literally impeding my progress, and painfully I might add. I stopped for a minute and convinced myself that I could do it. I grabbed the ladder as hard as I could, and started climbing, slowly.

I breathed on each step, forgetting about the whole task and just focusing on putting one foot up, then the next. When I reached the top, I started walking on the rope, grabbing another that was right next to me to have some support. I literally closed my eyes, and walked without looking at what was next. I heard the team that was on the ground saying, “You can do this Maria, just open your eyes and grab the next rope!”

I did. I grabbed the rope and walked until I reached the point on the other side where my partner was waiting for me. Together we were able to finish the task, something I thought I would never do.

Working in Teams, We Accomplish More
What I take from this experience is how working in teams can help you achieve something that you never thought was possible. Their words of encouragement, their example of how the task could be done, and my teammate’s ability to overcome her fear, motivated me to try.

The Team Fuqua way of working together makes us stronger, and together we accomplish more. Team Challenge Day was one of the best experiences I’ve had since arriving to Durham, and it made feel proud of being part of such a great community.

FROM Fuqua Current Student Blogs: Why Visiting Fuqua and Attending Blue Devil Weekend is Invaluable
Although I have been at Fuqua for only a few months—a short time frame by most business school standards—I feel like I have made the best decision of my life.

I initially applied to the MBA program at Duke for a number of reason—for example, its outstanding reputation in academics and the strength of its career services. However, when it came to ultimately choosing a school to attend, what really did it for me was making the trip across the pond to visit Fuqua. After three days at Blue Devil Weekend (aka BDW), the event Admissions hosts for admitted students, I found the decision incredibly easy to make.

As I boarded the airplane from cold, rainy London, I had no idea what was in store for me. I certainly did not expect a jam-packed two days of information, laughter, some more information, and a truly great time.

Day one kicked off with a lunch event hosted by the Association of Women in Business—Fuqua’s professional development club for female students. It was a highly informative session with plenty of insight on the different types of career development events hosted by the club.

A tour of Cameron Indoor Stadium—where the basketball teams play—during Blue Devil Weekend
Fast forward a few hours and past a series of talks on life at Fuqua, I found myself standing in the Duke Basketball Museum and Sports Hall of Fame, learning about Duke’s legendary basketball history. Oh, and it helped that Duke had won the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship the week before so the atmosphere on campus was absolutely electric. The day closed with a real Duke MBA experience—Fuqua Friday. This is a weekly tradition where students, faculty and administration at Fuqua all kick back with a beer and get to know one another better.

The tour continues outside of Cameron
I thought day one would be hard to top, but day two did not disappoint. We heard fromFuqua Dean Bill Boulding, who welcomed us to the school. Later on in the day, we were given the opportunity to truly appreciate the MBA experience by attending a lecture of our choice (I went for managerial economics) and an intimate session on recruiting in the industry of our choice.

Looking back, I’m so glad I took the time to personally experience the culture of each of the schools I was considering. Over the two-day experience of Blue Devil Weekend, I fell in love with everything about Fuqua—especially the people, many of whom are now my good friends.

The few months here at Fuqua have felt like an extension of that Blue Devil Weekend experience. Each and every day I’m learning a huge amount, I’m meeting new people, and I’m exposing myself to new cultures. Quite simply, I’m having the time of my life.

I had scheduled a skype interview. Had it on 13th. Had a great experience. The interviewer was a 2nd yr, really nice person. He appeared to have some standard set of questions. Yet it was conversational.

Questions appeared pretty normal to me -
walk me through your resume.
leadership experience in a team where you faced difficulties.
teamwork experiences (conflict situation)
an achievement as a leader.
a time when you failed at something.
most constructive feedback that you have received, how did you react to it? A second situation where you applied the learning from that feedback.
what differentiates you from other applicants?
your biggest weakness (one) and how are you working on it?
what past experiences have prepared you for your future ambitions and how fuqua will help you?
what does team fuqua mean to you?
how will you build further on your leadership skills at fuqua?
what clubs/activities are you looking forward to?
any questions from me?

Experience was great as I mentioned earlier. He was very friendly and we started off with a chat about how I was staying back in office for the interview and then a bit about Tata group after which we started with the questions. We had a few light moments as well! In the end, he also told me that I did well and wished me best for other parts of the process.

I had my interview yesterday in Shanghai. As mentioned above, I was asked very standard interview questions with a couple questions mixed in relating to my experiences as an American in China. The only thing that caught me off-guard was when I was asked to name 3 weaknesses (not the usual 1).

Also, can anyone confirm if the interviews are blind interviews? (i will be interviewing in a hub city)

So is it ok to repeat information found in your essays during the interview (like why MBA, why duke?)

Same here.Awaiting response post that mail. Seems like a shortage of Indian Duke alums. I'm worried since I would be travelling over the latter part of next week.Hope they do not impose a fixed interview date :(
