What is the typical attire for men at the Super Saturday? Is it suits and ties or business casual?

People with interviews will wear suits, so formal attire wouldn't be out of place. If you're not interviewing, business casual is fine.

I'm biased. Do come to welcome weekend though and see which you like better. I'm highly involved with welcome weekend this year, and one thing that I can say without any bias is that our international students didn't realize how important welcome weekend was. A few who didn't come wish that they had attended. I won't give out any more details about welcome weekend here - we're still finalizing everything, but It will be a very good time.

I like the program at Emory a lot. I'm from NY, so certainly I can say that Cornell is very well regarded there. The weather at Emory is much nicer :).

Thanks LetsGoMets!!

I will surely attend the welcome event. I need to understand the schools presence in the consulting industry. Can you please help me know the companies in which the school is listed as a core school or the companies who are actively recruiting at Emory.

Thanks!!

I don't love the idea of posting names on here of companies that come recruit on campus. For consulting, the list is good. Many big name firms do recruit here. I don't know whether Emory is considered a core school at specific firms. What I do know is that there are Goizueta alumni at most of the larger consulting firms, and know that you're not limited to just companies that recruit on campus.

Know that Goizueta's class size and location will mean that you won't have 200 companies traveling from NY to meet you on campus, but the alumni are incredibly helpful (I can't stress that enough - they've been so great to me), and you'll be able to get phone calls and meetings (at their location) with just about any industry you can think of.

It's great that a current student is taking questions.

How does Goizueta fare in non-profit management. I do know that social enterprise has recently begun in Emory. How active are the non-profits or for-profit social firms in recruiting at Goizueta? What are some of the activities of 'Goizueta in the community'? Atlanta being a big city should have a fair share of active non-profits.

Thanks.

The non-profit/social enterprise here has a good presence, but it's not something that I'm involved in, so while I know of a few things that we've done, please note that I'm sure that there has been a lot more than just what I'm about to write.

I haven't seen very many postings for non-profit companies (there are some, but it isn't my focus). I'm sure there is activity - our Net Impact club is a very good group.

Events: There was a morning in October where students planted trees in an Atlanta neighborhood, a program called Trees Atlanta. There have been two speakers, a conference in Michigan, a film screening, and a kegs event that encouraged recycling. I'm sure that there have been other events, but I'm not at all involved in that sort of thing.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Atlanta was snowed in last week and Emory was closed all week. Hopefully they will respond the coming week.

You gotta love the South. It snows a few inches and entire cities shutdown

I emailed them last week asking if they happened to have any interview slots open before Feb 1st and haven't heard back a peep, so perhaps that is why.

Cheers,

lol the snow was brought up when i was there few weeks ago. The interviewer said the city dont have the response a normal "snow city" would with the trucks, plows etc. So it is understandable an unexpected storm could cause some havoc. I live in upstate NY with lake effect snow and i worked in PA as well with serious snow too... it really sucks :(

I live in Atlanta, and I'll tell you straight up. It wasn't snow but inches and inches of solid ice with temps in the teens for 5 straight days that caused the mess. And yes, this darn city has only 10 snow plows. Best of luck to you all.

I have a question for those who have been to Super Saturday. I have signed up for this upcoming Super Saturday even though I participated remotely to the best of my ability at an earlier one. I wanted to go more to talk with current students about their experiences. Can anyone tell me if many students will be there participating in the event?

I have already been accepted to Emory with a scholorship. I'm waiting to hear back on a couple of other schools before I make my final decision. I am hoping that Super Saturday can provide me with a forum to ask some detailed questions to current students and maybe even a professor or two. I really like Emory and I want to have a fair comparison when I make my final decision. Can anyone on this board who has already participated in these events shed some light on them for me. All I have is my virtual particpation to fall back on.

Thanks.

They try to do a nice job with the online version of the super saturday, but it really doesn't compare with being there live. The event has a few different opportunities to ask questions. There is an hour dedicated to student Q&A about anything you'd like in a classroom setting, and there's also time during lunch to meet students and faculty and ask them questions. There will be many students attending.

I can certainly relate to where you're coming from. I was in the same position as you this time last year, and this was the Super Saturday event that I attended as a prospective student.

Thanks, Mets. I appreciate the insight. I'm also looking to go into finance. Could you give me the quick scoop on Emory's finance program from a current student's perspective? I'm extremely interested in the Center for Alternative Investments in particular, but will most likely look to get into equity financing at an i-bank right out of school. I know Emory has great NY banking ties, but I don't always feel like that comes through in the published employmet report. Care to comment? Lastly, what was your biggest reason for choosing Emory?

Thanks again. I look forward to Saturday.

After lot of discussions and feedbacks from the current students, alumni and friends, I have decided to join the school. Goizueta, Here I come!!!! :-D
