Did anyone attend the tuck session in Mumbai? How was it? Any noteworthy details?

hey,
I attended the Tuck event yesterday and it was very good. They showed us a video for about ten minutes and then 4 alumni came up to talk about their experiences and answer any questions.

overall, it was very good and I would definitely recommend that people attend these sessions.

I have my interview scheduled in four hours with the admissions committee members here in Mumbai.

All the best to everyone!

It could also mean that your file has not been reviewed yet and thanks to your initiatives you were able to secure an interview.
As such on campus interviews in Tuck are blind, as in interviewer does not have insight into your application only your resume.
When I reviewed in Hanover, I had not submitted my application. Infact my interviewer did not even have my resume, I gave her a copy right there.

Hope it helps .... ATB

So I had my interview with Diana Krass today. it went smoothly and as everyone says, the interview is very friendly. This is a bit strange but i still havent recieved a formal email from the Tuck admissions team. I met Diana at the event yesterday and raised this query with her. She asked if i would like to interview today and thereafter sent me an interview invitation mail in the night..

My concern is that she hasn't seen my application file as yet and only knew my GMAT score and had my resume in front of her. So does this mean that the people who reviewed my application didn't find me a good fit for Tuck?

Can someone help me out here. Thanks !

This is really surprising man! I didn't know such an option existed - else could have tried my luck at Mumbai. My GMAT score is lower - I would kill for such an opportunity because I think I do well in interviews (feedback). I am quite bewildered by this actually !

On your application note, maybe you would have received an interview, maybe not. Diana's assessment however, if positive, can massively tilt Tuck's bias in your favour. Congrats dude! You grabbed an amazing opportunity.

To be honest, i didnt know such an option existed and it just kinda flowed from the initial discussion i had with Diana yesterday.

Anyway, why do you say Diana's assessment can tilt the bias?

Don't read too much into it. All interviews are blind. When I did my interview in Hanover, I had already submitted my application, but the second year who interviewed me only had a copy of my resume and went through the typical behavior questions.

I completely agree with salilsabir, the Tuck reception at Mumbai was really nice. They took a lot of questions about the school and application process. Everyone should try and attend irrespective of the round in which one is applying. I have also heard of some other schools who ask few candidates to interview after an information session without any prior schedule. Good luck to all.

Hi All, I am going to Hanover on Nov 8 and have an interview with the adcom on Nov 9. If anyone is interested in sharing the room for 8th night and reduce the costs, please PM me. Over 150$ for a night's sleep is better shared and spend for more constructive purposes :)

P.S. I don't snore :)

Guys, i have a query regarding the schedule of the Tuck Info sessions. As per the Tuck events page, the Mumbai event was scheduled for 2 Nov. However, if I understand correctly, the interviews were conducted on 3 Nov. Was the Information Session scheduled for 3 Nov itself (and the website details are yet to be updated), or was the event held over 2 days with Nov 3 reserved exclusively for interviews?

Hey Rajadi and anyone else that is going to Tuck.

I had my interview there last month. I have to say the school is INCREDIBLE. I loved everything about the school and the people. I am sure you will love it. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the EA notification.

When I went the to Tuck, I rented a car and stayed at a hotel in White River Junction. Go to hotwire.com and look for 3 star hotels in Hanover (they will say the closest is White River Junction, which is a 10 minute drive) and you will see hotels there for $75 or so for a night. I got mine for $65 and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. It was actually very nice and the hotel also had free breakfast. I have been using hotwire a lot for my school interviews (at Duke, Kellogg etc) and have been able to stay in nice places fairly affordably. PM if you have any questions.

P.S. Anyone else feel that they over exhausted their MBA application budget? I am now dipping into my actual savings I set aside for tuition to pay for the applications. I hope it works out :)

Good luck everyone!

The Mumbai info session/ Tuck reception was help on Nov 2nd at 7:00 pm IST , thereafter interview slots were allotted on 3rd Nov (by prior invitation given to the candidates) , but some applicants ( as pointed out in one of the previous posts) were asked to interview a few hours after the information session on 2nd Nov itself.

I got a response within two days of registering through connections from a Tuck alum. I have asked him questions over email and awaiting his response.
