Hi! Seeking for a profile eval for HEC - Here’s my profile:

Undergrad GPA - 93.4/100
Undergrad degree - Chemical Engineering

Your work-ex is interesting, given the association with some marquee brands. Any promotions or role changes within these companies? And how about ExtraCurriculars?

While the GMAT is a bit on the lower side, having a strong application can help balance this. Also aim to have a strong narrative for your post-MBA goals i.e. why consulting, what are your transferable skills, what's plan-B, etc.

Officially, HEC maintains that each round has the same chances (except the last month/ round which isn't advisable for internationals), and I've seen it in practice as well. Both intakes are broadly similar, you could find some insights and key differences here.

Can both the LORs for HEC be professional? Or is it necessary that one should be professional and the other academic?

Hi, Just wanted to know if the HEC application allows just one company's work experience in the application in detail or is there an option to fill in multiple as well? (I have worked in 3 different companies in different functions).

If it is indeed just one, it should be the current employer?

The HEC MBA application requires 2 LoR's, ideally both professional.

If you've worked across companies, it's fine to get one from a previous manager and one from your current manager, but this would depend on how long you've been with the current company, have there been different managers within the current company, why/ when did you switch companies (i.e. is there a growth arc), etc. Getting one from your current manager is definitely important though.

The key is to select recommenders who have worked closely with you (i.e. managed/ led you) and can talk about your strengths/ traits, motivations etc. by giving specific anecdotes. Some best practices and guidelines for LoRs can be found here

reeya_raykar its unclear which HEC program you are referring to. Generally, when applying for a master's program, and you have worked in the corporate for some time, a mix of professional and academic LORs can give a holistic impression. However, if you are only applying to the MBA program, unless you have some explaining to do regarding a very low GPA, only professional recommendations are preferred. In case of a low GPA and some adverse circumstances, your academic reference can be provided in addition to your 2 professional LORs. There may not be a provision to do so on the form, but the LOR can be mailed separately.

Hello! Applied to HEC MiM R2. Went through this forum and I worry my GRE score isn't good enough. I'm a very studious student and can excel in quant in an academic setting, but juggling work and studying for the GRE was exceptionally hard due to the nature of my job (10+ hours per day). This resulted in a 320 (159Q, 161V) score and seeing how 159 is the 58th percentile I'm super nervous. How doomed am I? :/

My question though was specifically for the "Professional Experience" section of the application. Here I only see the option to enter details of my employment for just one company. I don't see an option to "Add" more professional experiences to specify the work I have done in my previous two companies.

Wanted to get a sense if that is truly the case or if I am missing something on the application form.

Saarcaasm - Yes, pls add in details of the Current/ most recent company in the Professional Experience section.

The application also asks for your CV (as an attachment), which would contain details of your previous companies.

I personally spoke with the MiF recruiter and she stated that the average GRE for admitted students to the MiF is 320. I cannot imagine it would be much higher than that for the MiM, even if it is a somewhat more prestigous programme. I think your GRE score is likely in range, and the quant score should not be a problem especially if you come from a strong quantative academic background.

Thanks for this! Unfortunately I do not come from a quant background (liberal arts, social sciences) and currently work in advertising, which is why I'm slightly worried. In my quant courses during college I got good grades, but not amazing ones (B+, which were with strict professors who only hand out A- at max- but ofc admissions doesn't know this). I did mention in my essays that I'm looking to strengthen my quant base and talked about why HEC in particular is good for that, but hopefully my overall academics can convince I'd be a good student (I have a good GPA). At this point, all I can do is cross my fingers...

Let's hope for the best! As long as you are a good student and your LoR's support that, I don't see why not. MiM in particular is "less" quant-focused than their MiF, so you are more than likely fine.

Hi guys, I am planning to apply to HEC in R2. However, due to professional commitments, I may have a high chance of missing the deadline. Does anyone know how would my candidacy be impacted if I apply by 3rd week of Jan? Also would be great if someone can tell me the time period HEC offers to pay the commitment fee
