FROM IESE MBA Director's Blog: An Amazing Dream: My Experiences at IESE and Yale

Hi All,

Just got an interview invite from Miriam. It is scheduled for 26th October in Singapore.

Guys who have already interviewed, or current students and alumni - Can you please share your experiences? What kind of questions / discussion to expect? Will it be mostly related to the application and work experience and information provided in the application, or will there be something else? Please share information on what to expect on the PI day. Also, is there any dress code for the interview? Is business formals expected (suit and tie)? Or just normal work wear (trousers and shirts) suffice?

On a side note, the IESE website mentions that apart from the Personal Interview (PI), there is an Admissions Day round as well. Is AD a progressive round of interview, i.e. only students who clear the PI get an invite for AD? The website mentions that AD is mostly optional, though highly recommended. So does that mean PI is the most important admission round on which the admission decision will be based? Or if I can put it in a slightly different way - can an applicant be denied an admission decision based on performance in the AD round?

Anyone interviewing in Singapore - We can meet up, stay connected and share tips. Please PM me.

Thanks,
Jeet

Hi Jeet

Congratulation on your interview invite.

I would recommend you to go to the blog clearadmit to see past interview questions as they have a decent database of interview questions.

AD is part of the admission process in the sense that it gives you the ability to demonstrate your interest in the program. It also presents you the opportunity to make a stronger case for your candidacy. I have read up extensively about the process and it looks like an applicant can be denied based on the performance in the AD. However, this is rare and I would encourage you to participate in it if you can.
In the past all students who got PI got invited to AD as well. Maybe things are different this year but there are no indications towards that. I would expect you to get your AD info after your PI.

All the best.

Aditya

PS: All info presented here is based on my research and understanding of the program and does not directly quote anyone.

I would not worry about it too much. B Schools get slammed with applications at this time of the year. 2 weeks is a rough timeline anyway.

Stay hopeful and all the best.

Hey Aditya,

Thank you very much for the info. That kind of allays certain doubts. I will try to look up Clear Admit Blogs, thank you for suggesting that.

Are you in for IESE as well? When is your interview scheduled, or are you already done with the process? Can you please share your experience, if possible?

I had a video conference interview with Bruno, an associate director of admissions, last day. It was a pleasant experience.

He went through my application and CV in detail prior to the interview. Most of the questions were based on his observation from these documents.

Has anybody in LatAm had their interview yet?

I am curious as to when the decisions for interviews go out for everyone. It looks like only a handful of people have heard back. has anyone had any contact with Adcom yet. I am planning on emailing them tomorrow asking them when to expect an answer.

Curious to know if the invites are location based. A lot of people in Singapore got invites last week. Ditto with Delhi. Dont know if somebody from Mumbai or Bangalore have received invites. Mine still says 'manage'.
If anyone plans to write a mail and hears back from adcom, kindly post it here to allay anxiety.
Thanks

Does anyone who's gone through the interview mind sharing their experience? For instance, how long it was and what kind of questions were asked. I have my interview/campus visit on October 30th in Barcelona and am just curious as to how to best prepare.
Thanks.

Hey guys - Sorry for joining in late here. I'm from India and I too am done with my interview. Overall the questions were very conversational and free flowing. There weren't any questions designed to make you feel stressed.

1. Introduce yourself.
2. Specific incidents from your past which have made an impact on your life or has transformed your thinking.
3. Career goals - short term and long term goals.
4. What other schools are you applying to?
5. Why IESE, why MBA now?
6. Challenges you've faced at work.
7. Cultural diversity experience at work.
8. Preferred location to work post MBA?
9. Questions from my side?
10. Briefed me about the next steps in the process.

Overall, it was a pleasant discussion. It lasted for a little more than an hour. Hope this helps those who are yet to have their interviews.

Also, I got invited to the Assessment Day on 28th Nov. at Singapore. Anyone else from India on the same boat?

Hi blaugrana, thanks for the info. Where did you have your interview in India?
