Are the essay shortlisted candidates notified by email or The website needs to be checked??? And when are the results declassified …. 12th Morning/ Evening/ late night? Posted from my mobile device
You will receive an email instructing you to check your shortlist status on the portal. Last year, I had received the email in evening.

I assume they’ll follow the same this year as well.

proma1729,
You have a differentiated profile. Acads are good. The streams are different -BSc and MA.
Your work profile is also in Govt and NGO sector which is different from most candidates.
Within NGO, you have worked mostly on analytics side, which is valued highly as your skills will be beneficial to any organization you join. Your work on SDG is also something of value.
Though you have not mentioned extra curricular, assuming its average, your profile is the one which will definitely stand out.
Your GMAT is not so great, but good enough to give you shortlist in both the colleges. If you can perform decent in the interviews, highlighting your USPs, you will be a strong contender for selection.
Best wishes!

You have one of the most interesting profiles I have seen recently. For those well-versed in the impact entrepreneurship, Pratham is one of the iconic impact entrepreneurship models and adds a lot of weight to your profile. Unpack your experiences and construct your stories in a way that demonstrates how working on your projects has provided you with more hands-on experience, experiential maturity, and the ability to contextualize business problems within your industry.

Most of the skills a future leader must possess depend heavily on emotional intelligence. Without interacting with people from different cultures, hierarchies, and motivations, it is difficult to understand the realities on the ground, even if you know all the management concepts. This type of grassroots experience will set you apart as an MBA candidate.

Since many PGP/MBA candidates will have advisory roles in their future jobs, your previous experience in a social enterprise that entails significant human interaction is highly advantageous. The problems that the majority of the world's population suffers from are not first-world in nature. Governments and nonprofit organizations are not capable of solving problems of this magnitude on their own. The experience of a professional who has worked in a highly systematized and incentive-based environment would enhance the effectiveness of philanthropic organizations or the social impact sector. I am sure your previous engagements and initiatives have given you the ability to navigate a complex cross-cultural environment, a criterion considered particularly important for excellence at a global business school like ISB. You are also well-suited for other top MBA programs.

Your GMAT is alright. If you can share the breakdown into Q & V, I could guide you better as the individual scores do influence decision making.

Do not hesitate to reach out if you need help navigating your unique circumstances in the B School admissions process. We do not cap discussion hours for our applicants

Hi guys, can anyone please answer this - are the extempore topics same for all applicants or do they creat few different pools for applicants roughly based on their industry of experience ?

HiVidyasagarP,

1. The extempore topics are independent of applicant's industry or experience
2. Every panel will have lots of extempore topics (lets say for eg 10 topics).
3. These 10 topics will be put up as "chits"
4. Candidate has to pick any one chit. Whatever is the topic on the chit, they have to speak on that topic
5. Candidate can pick up a second chit if they are not comfortable with the first topic
6. After picking second chit, you cant go back to first topic and you cant pick up third chit.

So basically, there is no correlation between topics and candidate's history or application. Everyone will get a random topic based on luck

NOTE - This is based on last few years of experience, the process may be different this year.

VidyasagarP

Many of the IIM A PGPX extempore topics are designed to assess your knowledge of current affairs or trending topics and your ability to present a personal view on issues of global significance.

Regarding your question about whether these topics are "industry-oriented," they are not. However, during the IIM A PGPX interview, the panel is very likely to probe deeper into your industry knowledge by asking you questions and challenging your understanding and views on industry-related issues. So, it is best to be thoroughly prepared and have insights into your industry, both the previous one and the one you are aiming for after the MBA.
